So why are people triggered/surprised about Sub and Raiden being in the game exactly?

A lot of people seem to treat MK and Injustice like they're the same fucking IP anyway (including WB/NRS themselves, in fairness). God forbid them trying to gauge interest from MK enthusiasts who don't usually care for DC jazz and otherwise wouldn't be prepared to sit through 2 years of forced hype.

Oh and for the 'wasted slot' camp:
Sure, there is the premise of legit DC characters being there instead, but considering people wanted buffoons like Reiko, Havik, Fujin etc. in the place of MKX's guest characters without being properly rebooted, I'm not sure how much faith is worth investing into that argument.

Akuma is in Tekken. Cool. But Tekken cast is mostly Tekken.
MKX had movie characters, which is fair because they never had any other affliations to a major fighting game.
MKX didn't have Robin, Ivy, Grodd, Captain Cold as DLC package.

This isn't just about comic fans, it's the fact that DC has so many interesting characters out there and NRS decided to be lazy, get the easy buck and put in a character they already have a design for.

Well, my take on that is this: DC fans and Video Game fans are not one and the same. MK has a long and bloody history, since 1992, and DC fighting games weren't really a thing until just recently. Justice League Task Force? No one remembers that. MK vs DC had MK to carry it. Injustice was the first real, serious attempt at it, and now we're at the sequel, four years later.

The fans that love the comics, the TV shows and the DCEU? A lot of them aren't playing. They're into Halo and Overwatch, but fighting games? Nah... They're niche, and MK is just a bigger name in that world. At the end of the day, someone's gotta buy, and Scorpion sold the most as IGAU DLC.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love it if there were no guests! I'd like to see Rorshach, Mr. Terrific, Wildcat, Constantine (for his fans), Suicide Squad Kitana, Boomerang, and a lot more! At the end of the day though, I just know how it works, and I'm willing to accept it. I'm looking forward to Manta, and Red Hood for the first time ever in life.

I agree. But the masses have spoken with their wallets, and Scorpion was the best-selling DLC from the first game, so we knew this was coming...

I wasn't looking forward to Sub-Zero at all, but after seeing him, I admit he looks pretty badass. I'm definitely more interested in him than I originally was.

Anyway, It sucks because Ed Boon has done twitter pulls to see what MK character "we" would like to see in the game...And since his twitter account is followed by mostly MK fans he didn't get a lot of "no". DC fans are into DC content, period.

BTW, Scorpion sold the most DLC's because what competition he had? Batgirl and Lobo? Bill Nye the Science Guy would of outsold those C level characters.

How many people used Scorpion throughout the game? He turned out to be the worst character and one of the least used in tournaments. A total waste after his month of brokenness then got nerfed to hell.(no pun)

If this was really about sales:

Power Rangers or Ninja Turtles would sell a hell a lot more than Raiden and Sub Zero.
They did crossovers with DC comics and had recent movies come out.
Also the skins available for all Rangers and Turtles would give us option to entire group within one character each.

Either way, Sub is in the game. I already preordered the ultimate edition. I support this game with my hard earned money and will continue to since I've been a MK fan before a DC fan. I just really enjoyed MKX and believe thats where Sub and Raiden belongs. You take away their potential when they're thrown in the DC fighting games which has no fatalities or brutalities, which adds the life and style to the MK characters. It's always been unique and exclusive for MK. Just my take on it, majority of the folks obviously disagree with me and that's okay. Peace.

I've never been one to gripe about guest choices, but TWO (at the least) Mortal Kombat characters? Come on. Sub-Zero's inclusion is fine because Scorpion was in the first. It only makes sense.

But I feel that Raiden is a legit waste of a slot when the whole fucking DC roster is out there. I definitely don't care for his inclusion at all. Waste, waste, waste.

I do kind of question Raiden being in though. I am ok with MK guests (I love MK lol) but deep down I was hoping we would see Shao Kahn as a guest if there had to be one.
