As long as you play people from here you should be fine when it comes to finding matches without gear.

Also, it's just for fun I don't think anyone in this thread takes gear seriously enough beyond a destructive need to see how broken and janky gear matches can get when used by competetive players (something I'd also laugh at watching and enjoy participating in for a change of pace.)

Like i mentioned on twitter. Its a fun/good idea. Yes it will be difficult to do cause unlocking all the abilities. That is very obvious. I still suggest it only being abilities with the only boost being the base level modifiers of the characters. Basically the level boost being the only increase in stats you get. Reasoning being someone taking 30 minutes to figure out what gear they want equipped. Or someone giving themselves 400+ Defense and like 500 health. Making it boring as shit and long to kill them.
I also don't understand why people would say no to this. They don't have to enter, They don't have to watch. I get the whole getting peoples opinion thing. But ya.

I'm just gonna give my opinion:

I'm all for gear, but I think offline its impractical. They won't have all your items, and even if they did, there is random stat rolls, so they still won't have all your items.

However I think online, gear tournaments should very much be a thing. The fact that its impossible offline might mean when people come online most of them will want to watch the same game, and so no-gear will obviously be the online standard as well. However, we shouldn't entirely snob our way through gear which has the potential to be an amazing game mode and an epic game just in general, and I really hope there is online gear tournaments as well - get a healthy mix of both please in my opinion!

I will be very surprised if there is no way to access your gear loadouts from another console by signing into your profile and getting them from the cloud, guys. It most likely won't take that long to access your geared characters, provided you play on the same console.

Wouldn't be surprised if something like this is done in actual top 8's or grand finals, just for aesthetic reasons. If you get that far, sure, take a minute and use your custom skin. Do it long enough, and we'll probably be able to tell who's playing the character at a glance. For instance, I feel certain Sonic would use a dark blue/white shader on nearly everyone he plays.
