I did the same thing on social media and even called out several figure heads who said it "was just random bro". I don't like saying only pro players got codes because quite a few players I don't consider to be that great got codes.
The way pig explained it in my argument with him made it make sense to me though, so I'll post it in here.

From a business standpoint, what they're doing makes complete sense. I just wish they would've communicated it better and not make it seem like it was a sign up beta people were going to get into. If they would've prefaced the first wave as being only influencers, and then little waves letting the public in after, I think it would have been much better for imaging. They're still handling it better than capcom probably would have though. So props to them for that at least.
EDIT: I've since deleted my angry tweets because I feel it's not only a bad idea for a business standpoint on my end, but also toxic for the community. Even though I think the people lying about it being random are just as toxic, might as well not add fuel to the fire.

That's why I love my crowd at Akon. I had a dude so pissed about his placing that he cried. It was totally my fault. My first every tournament as TO. Mahvel..200 plus people. Lost my voice screaming names in less then an hour on Day 1. Limited staff, eqiupment, etc. Are room is 24hours. Pools for Mahvel alone lasted 8 hours with two systems. We ordered pizzas as a group and chilled together. After midnight I allowed drinking if of AGE and if played by head staff. I was 19 at the time, no drinking but We had 21plus people and I needed to keep everyone happy. We ended pools at 6am...EVERYONE came back by 10am for Top 32-Grand Finals. I was fucking tired as shit and fucked up third and fourth places. Fourth place was now technically Third...I had already paid out the guy and he left to.enjoy the convention with the other 20,000 plus weebs there not even for gaming, just the raves concerts and panels.
Dude was angry as shit...and I found out he was my door man. MY OWN MINION! I felt like pure shit. This kid fought hard and had his 3rd place win. Yes off a technicality but it was his and I had nothing of substance to give him. He volunteered for us and I screwed this kid over. I bought a 100% real Japanese replica of Kenpachi Zaraki's Zanpakuto from Bleach for nearly 300 bucks. I sat his ass down, gave him some Raisin' Canes ,with the sauce, took my ass back to the dealers room and got a refund. I gave him that cash out of pocket.
I actively listened to my people's and they corrected my fuck ips. I learned from it and now I have Smash, GG, BlazBlue, and KI crushing MK and SFV in terms of numbers. Like I said these same people have emailed me about Beta codes wondering what's up. Asking if I have sum due to my past with Gearbox and Blizzard, I have quite a few friends and Texas is a hot spot for more games then people know. I'm thinking it's open amd were waiting for codes as told. But when to many people notice the same shit it's time to wake up and call it for what it is. As I've stated...good plan.
