Killer Instinct Discussion Thread

Blue Blurs for Life!
I'm quite pleased to see that TYM has embraced Killer Instinct discussion again.

The last time we tried to express a long-term support for the game, it wasn't well-received simply for the fact that it's not an NRS game, despite that the classic KIs were considered a distant cousin to the MK games long ago. Hence why we ceased updates to our character forums, stopped front-paging KI posts, and relocated the KI section to the Fighter's Depot sub-forum where all non-NRS titles go.

While TYM's focus is centered around all products by Netherrealm Studios, and Warner Bros. by extension, we'd hoped to evolve into a site that would embrace gamers from all competitive scenes. And as an excellent upside, expanding beyond your boundaries can significantly improve your outlook on the meta of fighting games, and will thus result in an improvement to your gameplay for when you step back into MKX.

If there is enough interest in reinstating Killer Instinct as a mainstream title for TYM, I would be glad to follow through with it. So let your voices be heard!

P.S. Some shameless self-advertising here, but feel free to click my signature below my post to go straight to my YouTube channel, where you'll find a respectable amount of Killer Instinct content to sink your teeth into. Be warned, though: the majority of it comes from the game's first two seasons, and there's only one playlist for Season 3 gameplay. That will change in time, of course.

@YOMI RM JagoBlake
I think I mentioned you back on page one of the first few pages to see if you still played.
With the release and completion of Season 3 the game has so much to offer and might be why there is a rekindled interest.
I remember you having a nasty Jago and would love to play when you are available
Since last week it seems like everyday a bunch of the players in this thread have gotten games in together

@YOMI RM JagoBlake Will you be at KI cup again?
Unlikely. The World Cup is an invitational and I'd need to qualify my way into that as I did last year, and my time on the game has become incredibly limited. That may change in the near future, but I dunno.

I'll let you know when I'm on.

For anyone seeking KI matches with me, my XBL is RM JagoBlake. Do note that I am on PS4 for MKX and SFV far more often, so it may take a while before I get back to you.

I haven't played or labbed the mu and I watched that set like 2 hours ago. My thoughts atm are don't wake up that much with spinal as he doesn't have any really good wus aside from ex tele(his only invincible move). Don't dive kick in neutral really as it's unsafe and should really only be used to whiff punish or on a hard read, the closer to the feet you get the safer it is though. I like your use of the light punches up close for pressure, keep in mind you can run cancel at the cost of a skull for a throw or more mixups
In the eyedol mu in theory either keep a bar or a skull on deck for his Mage stance. Heavy bone shaker w/ skull and shadow bone shaker are projectile invincible and cover a decent amount of ground and are both openers. Not sure how they compare to his Mage normals in terms of range though and which outrange which.

@The PantyChrist
what can I do better with spinal? Also what should I do about his neutral jump heavy punch? Sometimes I'm able to beat it out but other times I just feel stuck
@Evantabes
Wrecked my face with Spinal

He kept me locked down, absorbed my projectiles, anticipated my jumps to win the air to air battle and just seemed one step ahead through out the match.

I'll upload that set tonight

All too easy...
Youve got an invicible non-charge meterless flashkick, youve got to be doing better than the rest of us lol

Lol I probably am. Though me and my Xbox controller don't always agree. I've gotten a lot of empty jumps or random lks instead of flashkick which has not helped me at all. Can't wait for this adaptor to arrive.

So Eyedol's been out for about 2-3 weeks. I'm firmly on the fuck Eyedol train, possibly conductor. What have you guys learned about the MU and what tips do you have for it. I need to go even against @ProudDisciple eventually.
He's been out since the 21st for the Ultra edition owners

You honestly just need to play the MU @The Slaj Jazz is proof of playing,adapting and overcoming

I honestly don't use his JHP has much as it could be exploited I guess I just try to use all his tools equally

I must admit that playing vs Eyedol isnt as fun as playing with him

Mage stance has no wake ups as you found out when you swapped to Cinder and constantly had me on defense I would try to create space fail and be stuck in blockstun forever
His foot stomp move is plus
You obviously found how to manuver through is zoning

Warrior stance is where you have to respect his wake up, honestly I don't remember you trying to bait me out so YOLO reversal all day
The MP and HP versions of his club special (where he bangs the floor) you should respect
All versions of His head/shoulder charge are - on block
His FMP overhead is plus and staggers on hit
His FHP rushing three swing attack can be shadow countered unless I have Red Blocks to Cancel into Dash or Jump

How long have u been playing on the pad?
It seems like an acquired taste for some but I love the XB1 pad
I'm not an execution wizard by any means but more often than not what I input comes out on screen
I can play on stick but have chosen not to invest in one for XB1

Also people just fail to AA anything, many characters have invinc. DP which does wonders vs Eyedols JHP but even without it normal down HP usually works as a good AA.

Mage stance can be easily bullied with no wake ups. I almost don't use FHP in warrior stance at all since its so easy to shadow counter.

Imo Eyedol is fine as he is, he has many strengths but also many weaknesses and while i really enjoy playing him (my fav. character of season 3 roster) i find myself playing more Fulgore again which is imo more well rounded "have it all" character then Eyedol, even after the nerfs.
