Bringing The ESL MKX Pro League to Australia (Here's How You Can Help)

Hello my dear, dear friends. As you may have seen over the last few days Joshua Gray (@Clutch8) (the man responsible for ESL MKX in the US) has been showing interest in our enthusiasm for a possible Australian ESL MKX Pro League. To further support what we've told Joshua thus far, I've put together a small survey (with input from @Gilbagz and @Googiemona) to help the guys at ESL know how much we want this!

Even if you aren't familiar with the Australian MKX scene, this survey is relevant to you. We are truly passionate about MKX, as we know the rest of you are, and want nothing more than to showcase the talent we have down under and build on our already healthy MKX scene.

If you have any time at all, please spare just a minute or two to complete the survey to help show your support and spread this around to anyone you can! All support is welcome and appreciated:

Go let ESL and Josh know how much Australia wants this! Thanks everybody!

UPDATE: Use the hashtag #AusMKXforESL to tell the ESL guys how much we want it! Share your support and stories in a place that's easy for them to see. :)

UPDATE:

Things are looking pretty good so far! We've gotten RT'd by some of the most known US MKX personalities such as Perfect Legend, Hitbox Godspeed, Noble Toxin, EVB Kitana Prime, Yomi DJT, and cR Honeybee, as well as recognition from head of ESL Australia, Nick Vanzetti. On top of that, we've got 136 unique survey entries from players spanning multiple countries!

We can't slow down, so make sure to go and Like and Retweet the support we've been shown by the international players to show how much we want this! Thanks again guys, you've all been awesome!

Survey done. Dunno if I would wanna enter personally because I'd get destroyed but for those who are actually good it sounds awesome.

These tournaments are the best place for you to learn myri! They're free, meaning all but a little time is required from you for you to have a chance at playing some games against fellow MKX fans and to show your support for the scene. You can always ask me for advice anyway, it's what I'm here for. :)

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.

no worries man thanks for all of the work you have put in.
The response has been amazing.

Ignorant slaves, how quickly you forget.
I don't know any good Aussies who play MKX, but from what i think. If this actually happens, i'd love to watch some new players that i haven't heard of rise!

jump onto youtube and check out ysb mkx this is the sydney monthly tornament. Might give you an idea of some of the aussie boyz

no offence but i dont think Australia has enough players (im from Australia) the max players in PS4 Lobby is a whopping 40 players and only barely above 10 at night (worse during weekends)

Of cors there are great players but theres probably like 10 players and not on the level of international level so you wont see a new sonicfox, madzin, tekkenmaster or killerxinox

I dont think its worth it they should focus on countries with more player base, if ESL comes to Australia I can guarantee you it will be the same top 8 everytime

This isn't really about finding "the next sonicfox" or whatever, it's about giving the Australian MKX community the attention it deserves. I think it's pretty naive to say "there's only 40 players in the room at a given time so there's not enough players". This is probably the worst way to estimate the size of a playerbase. Sometimes people don't play on some days when others might, some might play for shorter or longer periods, some might only on weekends etc etc.

Once again this isn't about how good the players are or how many there are (I'm sure there would be plenty), it's about having an opportunity for our country's MKX community to show how passionate we are about the game.

(Also besides that fact plenty of people enter ESL that aren't up to the standards of sonicfox and co., that's why they don't make the top 8, but we aren't concerned with that, we're concerned with playing the game we love and giving our local community the attention that it deserves.)

Australia has a much smaller population, so it is a given that we would have smaller player base.We don't claim to have huge numbers.

Like Myri said this isnt about finding the new sonic fox. Its about competition and showing what the australian community is capable. I'm confident that the top players here would at least be able to hang with the top players. I'm not saying win convincingly, or just go even with; but it wont he free wins for the international comp either way. Top players like n-megabytes, pan1cmode and googie have already travelled internationally and proved that they could hang with the best. In some of the last tournaments, googie even managed to eliminate gross and dab. They were far from free wins, but googie worker hard and earnt them.
Again we're not looking to dethrone the top, if that happens that would be insane, we just want to show the world what we can do.

And same top 8 is hardly an excuse. When you see EU and US ESL's, its the same few names every top 8, with a few new guys every top 8. We see the same trend with Googies online tournaments. We see a few of the same names, but there are new names every time.

40s are the peak hours, its usually 20-30 dont argue with numbers, we dont even have to count the numbers, the regulars( what truly matters ) is not that many

i used to play a lot, i recognised the regulars ign, the rest are pure casuals that can barely play or have no interest in tournaments anyway, and based on the attendance from googies tournament yes the competitive playerbase is small, thats a fact.

Of course theres a possibility of higher prize pool will attract more competitors for esl, we will see

goodluck though, i think the chance of esl happening is quite good
