This patch is filled to the brim with unnecessary BS. There are so many things that don't even do anything at all, things that are completely inconsistent, and things that are so far over the top and an obvious demonstration that NRS has no idea what they are doing.... Again.
First of all, if you reduce the plus on hit frames from like 20 to 15, THAT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING. So a move is plus on hit, so much so that it allows you to follow up with any move of your choosing. I know! let's reduce the plus frames but also make that still true! .. because that changes...... oh... nothing. This patch has tons of these. Reading all of them I couldn't help but think that they are patching shit just so they can say, "see! we're still supporting the game!"
Those reductions that accomplish absolutely nothing whatsoever can be addressed generally. Here's some unrelated character specifics that left me scratching my head.
BoRaiCho - Reduced the stun length of Fart Cloud & Crop Duster by 39 frames
Why? D'Vorah is still a character, right? Be consistent. And more damage scaling too? If you remove the stun frames by 39, THAT REMOVES BNB COMBOS. If combos are gone, MORE SCALING ISN'T NEEDED. Consensus was that bo needed some buffs in DM. kinda went the opposite way for some reason I guess.
Tremor - Added 5 recovery frames to Rock Shower
Why?
Triborg (CyberZero) - reduced the stun frames on Ice Ball by 13
Why? He will still be able to combo you after he freezes you. This doesn't do anything.
Triborg (Cyrax) - doing Bomb or Hover Bomb while in a combo adds some combo damage scaling
Triborg (Cyrax) - Net & Advanced Net will now miss-fire out if a Bomb or Hover Bomb has hit in the same combo
Triborg (Cyrax) - reduced the stun frames on Net & Advanced Net by 30
Triborg (Cyrax) - Bomb will now miss-fire after 3 Bombs have hit in the same combo
Good god... where do I even start with this. It's is SO obvious that they addressed these as separate "problems" instead of looking at the character as a whole. THESE THINGS ARE RELATED TO EACH OTHER.
Bombs misfiring after three bombs come out in the same combo.. That means he can't juggle you with 9 bombs for upper 30s anymore. I know! let's add damage scaling from bombs on top of that because the inability to even do these combos anymore wasn't enough! If you take out BnBs and make them WAY shorter, that makes them do less damage. If they do less damage, then MORE damage scaling is overboard. period. Have fun with your triple bomb juggles for 20%. What the fuck are you doing? Cyrax went from not even being top 5 straight into Raiden tier.
So net misfires if a bomb explodes... I imagine this was an attempt to rid cyrax of the supposed "hard to blockable" that you never even needed to block anyway unless you were trapped in the corner. *Looks at the other WAY worse hard to blockables in this game that are left untouched.*
Stun frames reduced on net...... Why? There's flat out NO reason for that AT ALL.
People need to get it through their heads that this game is NOT MK9. Cyrax is NOT a problem like he was in that game. All you needed to do was increase the gravity scaling on each bomb that lands in a combo. That's it. instead you completely ruined this character. Jesus Christ.
KP2 and the ability to play some cyborgs was the last thing that kept me even remotely interested in this game. I guess after I bought them, who gives a fuck if I keep playing... right? Cyrax was not normalized.. he was completely over the top shit on under completely false premises.
