Question - Alien What is Aliens best Variation so far?

I am curious what others think is Aliens best Variation.


what does TYM think of Alien, Konjurer, Acidic, and Tarkatan as of today?

What variations would you use against, Rushdown, Zoning, Footsie characters, Cancel pressure characters, Mixup heavy characters, and all around balanced characters?

i edited the poll for your response, glad you reminded me of that option.

i have been using Acidic for fun, but have been winning in corner with Tarkatan much more. but that can be just me.. hopefully we get some good insight and ideas for using the other variations from this thread.

So far? Situational.

Acidic or Tarkatan depending on the matchup considerations. Don't see one definitive "best variation" yet.

Tarkatan, his footsies are so much nicer, S2~Rekka is great footsies on hit whiff and block, raw Rekka is the longest range 15f normal in the game and it can be given armor and is safe on block, this plus D4~Rekka are the pieces his neutral game needs IMO, and thats not to mention the 9f armored gap punisher that converts for 31-32% and can switch sides before corner carrying if you choose to, and thats all ignoring the fact that Rekka's themselves are an amazing blockstring (not pressure, if you get opened up by Rekkas or you opponent is using them to be plus then you need to learn the match up) which gives him so much more meter for his gangster shit like 45% restands etc



The hard part is learning the Rekka's timing tho

Tarkatan is great and acidic is great and all, but people really need to show how good konjurer can be with it's setups.

But acidic and tarkatan are really good, people just aren't putting konjurer in the spotlight.

Tarkatan is probably the strongest as far as tools go, the rekka can be made completely safe and its infuriating to a lot of people, but the damage in Acidic can build up so fast. Konjurer has some crazy setups too. I'm guessing Tarkatan will be the fan favorite. I personally like Acidic.

I don't know, 112 into egg forces a ridiculous guess between throw, low, OH, low-low, low-overhead, overhead-low, overhead-overhead. Not saying it's the best, but it might be slept on

i voted conjurer.

its really really good.

tarkatan and acidic are good but people don't know the mu yet conjurer is good even if they know whats coming.

if they fix the facehugger so it actually punishes some moves, it would be op. frustrating that it fly past the head of an opponent because they low profiled it or used kanoball and they won't get touched by it.

aliens strength lies in f134 and having an armored 50/50 wakeups. Add a facehugger in the mix and its really easy to win games.

The rekkas will be exposed, they are good pressure but it isn't a-list, alien is a top 5 character - there is no bad variation.

Also people should note, top players don't jump alot they like footsies and hard reads. Tarkatan can be jumped in on for free, now you may say alien can anti air but that means that alien is playing a passive game. if the opponent stays out of b3 range and uses projectiles then when in b3 ranges jumps in alien gets full combo punished if he tries something. I think tarkatan would really struggle against mileena and other fast recovery zoners (it struggles against acidic its why sonic counterpicked it). Pumped up jax its another, Tarkatan will use a bar on bf2 just to through the zoning, and if jax keeps spacing right if wont reach him. Then up close jax has tons of plus frames, his 11 chews through ex tailflip.

Next major people will be more prepared and we will see how alien does, people slept on tarkatan because acidic is cheesy and probably expected alot more triborg

I think konjurer is great and a lot of fun. His weakness is a lack of things to cancel strings into imo. Like tarkaten can cancel all his strings into rekkas for pressure, acidic can cancel into acid spray for safety. Konjurer can cancel into the overhead which is -7 but usually has an armourable gap or the low which is like -14. I think hes good once he hits you, but the other variations are good if even if they're blocking.

Well what you said doesnt make sense, i mean you said if conjurer had this or that, but it doesnt. Also tarkatan is retarded and exposed in what way, i mean if you get hit with a rekka you have to guess on hit and on block, its also not as situational, tarkatan is basically like (what if tanya had full screen moves and fifty fifty rekkas)

i get that but you still have to worry about them waking up. and destroying the guess work and your egg. i use the 112 egg set up and get blown up all the time for it. it just doesnt seem like good enough tools. i REALLY want to be wrong but the fact you can't do another egg in a combo seems like crap to me

Tarkatan and Konjurer has the most winning matchups imo. Konjurer is even better in the corner. Actually, i don't think Konjurer loses a single matchup at all. The facehugger forces people to block, and the fact that you can put it behind, track the opponent, and put it on you makes him very crazy. I think Konjurer will be the best after they nerf the rekkas into the dirt. We all know its coming

kano is a losing mu for sure he can backdash out of hard knockdown egg setups and it wont trigger. he can also just backdash when its active and it whiffs or kano ball lol mileena is pretty hard too, but thats just mileena. i agree though conjurer has alot of winning mus.

knicks, tarkatan is minus after rekkas and the 50/50 is like 4% damage lol. Dragon was using d1 after rekkas because people were jumping and he caught em free. This isn't me saying tarkatan is bad, its a top 5 variation, but I believe thats more due to easy hit confirms to high damage and very good armored wakeups, rather than rekkas. They just keep alien safe.

the full screen moves is bs, they are horrendous bf2 is his only fullscreen decent move and that can be jumped over. takedas b21 makes aliens normals look like childs play; overhead and anti air, thats op.

BRC has better normals and people are saying hes trash so its definately not that.
