Hey all, this may seem like a weird place to post this, but I've had success working with fellow TYMers in the past, so what the hell.

As a lot of you know, I make my living as a gameshow host (www.facebook.com/woodystrivia). This is seriously the best job ever, and is the reason I'm able to spend so much time browsing TYM and playing video games. Running shows is fun and easy, even for a socially awkward introvert like myself. If you have a hobby and would like more time and money to pursue it, then this job is for you.

Thanks to fellow TYMer @Enigma642, we're about to have some proprietary software that will allow us to easily train new hosts and create games for any location in the country. That's where you come in! We're looking for people to run shows for us, no experience required. We provide all of the equipment (other than a laptop) and training. Each show is 2 hours long (though you only talk for about 20 minutes; the rest of the time is just playing music and keeping score). We pay a flat $50 per show, so you can easily rake in an extra $800 per month just running 4 shows per week.

Becoming a trivia host is literally one of the best things that ever happened to me. It gave me the freedom to quit my shitty job at Gamestop, to move anywhere in the country with my wife for graduate school, and to take time off any time I wanted for vacations, tournaments, and family matters. I'm excited to share this opportunity with my fellow gamers.

If you're interested in working with Trivia Time, please email me at [email protected]. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have, and to provide all of the information you need to decide if Trivia Time is right for you.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you!

WAR SEASON "THE WEAK EXPOSED!"
This seems really interesting.

I live in a town that is and is surrounded by a lack of a social atmosphere, with literally no venue I can think that of where this time of thing would fly. Maybe the nursing home, but idk.

Still, good on you @karaokelove for posting this to help everyone out

If u don't mind me asking, what do these hosts make in a night? We have a few of these in my town so I'm just curious

Yeah, just a heads up, we just started looking into setting up these long-distance regions today, so we're still figuring out exactly how to proceed. I feel a little bit like a dog who chases a car and catches it; not sure what to do now! So if you contact me, I do have some preliminary information for you, but a few details are still up in the air and we're working on getting them figured out. This includes the "management contract", which is in development.

I thought those pictures were from a movie.
One of my Gamestop co-workers was working on becoming a professional photographer, so we hired him to come do a photo shoot during my show at the Brewhouse 100, which was one of the more popular shows (sometimes breaking 100 players).

I have never heard of this before.
So you host a quiz show? And the team with the most right answered ones - wins?
Do you create these kind of quizzes on your own and for each show new ones - and which direction / genre are these quizzes usually?
Or can it be any genre - movies, music, games, sport etc?
Sry for asking, but like I said it's the first time I have heard from this term Trivia hosts.

This sounds rly interesting and fun and I am actually interested. But I ain't in US.
I live 3 months per year in Shanghai and the rest of the year in Germany and there is no such a thing. Or I missed it completely lol because most of the time I am just training basketball & breakdance when I am not riding on my R6 with my Sony HD cam.

This is one of those moments I wished I lived in the US
Where do you live? It might be possible to still get something started. I know pub trivia is huge in the US, England, and Canada. Not too sure about other places, though.

So every game is 20 questions, split into 4 rounds of 5 questions. Teams have access to 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 points per round that they can assign to their answers, but they can only use each value once per round. So say a team knows an answer, they'd put 10 points on it, but then they can't use 10 points again that round, regardless of whether they got it right or wrong. At the end of the game, the top 3 teams win gift certificates to the venue (usually $50, $30, and $10).

The quizzes are currently created by the owners, but will shortly be generated automatically by the software we're developing. Shows include a little bit of everything, from movies and TV to history and geography.

Thanks for the explanation.
On my next trip, not sure if this year, I might even go to US and check out some of these.

Is this available in Canada though?
I don't see why not. We'd just need to make sure everything is legal, since I'm not sure what the rules would be for playing music, how to handle taxes, etc. In the US, we've got it worked out so that we can legally give music to our hosts and play the music in public venues, and we don't have to withhold taxes from our hosts. But feel free to shoot me an email and I can run it by the owners to see what we can work out.

You know I would love to do this, but I live in Santa Barbara where there is no mk community, there is an sf and melee community though, even though I go to mk locals in LA pretty sure that that job would be suited better for actually LA locals.

My impression is that this is not MK or even fighting game specific trivia--it's just general trivia. That's why it would make sense to do this at like a family bar, if I'm understanding correctly.
