How did you get those numbers exactly? Unless win% doesn't mean actual win%, there's a problem. The average win% has to be 50% since a match results in one loser and one winner (how does that game treat double KO's? anyway, I doubt there's so many of them), and all the chars in your list have above 50% win lol.

When playing online, it is shown on the screen the total number of times that X character has won. If you divide that by the number of times that character X have been used, BAM, you have the winning percentage of character X.

The results are pretty clear, the more the casuals plays the most used characters (Scorpion, Cassie, Takeda, Sub...), they're probably choosing them cause they are the most used, then, they're not real good players = they will loose. The contrary is true.

February 2016 stats added now - Kitana and Predator climbs one spot.

ps. couldn't do January, that's the why it's missing.

Stats for the new DLC characters (Triborg, Bo Rai Cho, Leatherface and Alien) are not showing yet... Does anyone know if there's a problem?

Updated the character usage from may and also updated total wins and win percentage per character.

ps. Triborg, Bo Rai Cho, Leatherface and Alien are not showing up on the game yet, that's why they're not there.

I don't think that these figures are accurate. It is impossible for all characters to have a win % over 50. The lowest wins 58% of the time... this is actually impossible

Oh, my days !
Thanks for sharing.
Since some MK-related geek stuff that were supposed to be taken for granted are -in this forum- "debatable", ever since the latest era of MK games (mk-dc, mk2011 and mkx/mkxl) people MUST once and for all stop dissing what now seems to be clear.

MK is Scorpion/Subzero/Liu in spite of ALL the TYM liu haters, the NRS scorpion brain wash/spamming and the NRS Sub-Zero constant intro video kill-off.
Is there someone that argues with that ?

EDIT: In mk2011 raiden or J.Cage was 4th in popularity. Takeda, another not so popular character for tym users, sits on the #4 spot EVEN THOUGH the stamp of "boring, not original design" has stuck with the character from day one.

Why's that?
All characters have OVER 50% win rate. So who is losing? That is a mathematical impossibility.

In statistics, if I win 60% of the time. it means I lose 40% of the time. I cannot win at the same game 60% of the time AND lose 60% of the time.

I love takeda and kung jin. They should be mainstays for awhile. They are fascinating characters with good depth and alot of interesting backstory. The things that make almost all mk characters great is they could all go solo and still be a beast character with amazing stories they could go on. I think thats the reason mk is so popular amongst all games let alone fighting games

Not Good Enough
This is why I play Kano. No one knows what to do against him online and it's so fun using an underutilized character.

I believe that the win ratios being this way are due to the possibility of mirror matches. Le'ts say we have a fighting game with 2 characters: A and B. If this game does not allow mirror matches, then win percentages between these two characters would always add up to 100%, because when one character wins, the other always loses.

For example, A fights B 10 times and A wins 6. This means that A has a win percentage of 60 and B has a win percentage of 40. However, things get tricky when you add into the mix the possibility of mirror matches. Consider the following scenario:

A fights B 5 times. A wins 2 times, meaning B wins 3 times. A fights A 5 times, meaning A always wins (A always loses as well). Overall this gives A a win percentage of 70 (7/10) and gives B a win percentage of 60 (3/5). As a result, even though there are only 2 characters in the game, they both have a winning percentage. Assuming that NRS is using an algorithm as simple as what I described to calculate win percentages, then these statistics are possible.

Truly, there is no way of knowing whether this is actually possible without knowing the algorithm that NRS is using to calculate win percentages. These are just my thoughts and speculations. Let me know if I've made any mistakes, or if you have any alternate theories to share.
