The owner said that he wants to start doing weeklies for the popular fighting games like MKX and SF and one for the less popular fighting games like MvC3 and KI.

However it just opened up this past Friday and he needs to check with one of the TO's in Oklahoma on what days and they will happen. For now you can just come on by any day and just meet players and give your input.

You can also keep on eye on the website for upcoming events. I'll make sure to post about the MKX events on this threads as I find out about them myself.

Ok, it looks like Sunny's Game Lounge has a schedule up for every week. Here is the post that they put up on their official Facebook page

Guilty Gear
Blaze Blue
Mortal Kombat X
Tekken
Street Fighter
Soul Caliber
Killer Instinct

TableTop Tuesday:
Teach-a-tabletop game
Various TCG tournaments ( Weiss Shwartz at 7pm tomorrow confirmed)
Possibly Warhammer, Yugioh,Pokemon, and Magic.
Wednesday: Sports Night
NBA 2K16
Madden 16
Fifa 16
Forza 6
Rocket League

Thursday: League of Legends / YuGiOh
possibly smash brothers, I haven't decided
Friday:Friday Night Magic
Dota 2
possibly smash or Mortal Kombat

Saturday: Super Smash Bros
Singles and Doubles will be with the same weight
2 games a saturday, alternating games per week
possibly steam games or league

Sunday: Steam day
Various competitive games on steam ran
possibly Rocket League or Fight Night

Let me know how you like it, but this is what the general week will usually look like. I will have times and prices soon, and if it really generates interest, I will have it official by tomorrow night.

I talked to the owner and it looks like Fight Night will be around 3:00-4:00. However he said that it could change depending on the input from players.

I just saw this and I think it was me haha.
Right on,Ha!

Yeah, unfortunately no one has been showing up to Sunny's Game Lounge or going to any of the Fighting Game events there to play Mortal Kombat,Street Fighter, or Killer Instinct. Only the Smash Community have been showing up to Sunny's to play Smash Bros weekly and entering events to support their game and scene.

If you guys do an event on a Saturday i'll try and work stuff out to make the drive. I live in Tulsa and work so I could never make it by 3-4p :(

Well, as of right now Sunny's isn't doing any special events for fighting games outside of Smash because there wasn't enough support for it. He might end up doing something down the line if enough people start supporting it though.

Actually you guys a really solid offline scene from what I understand up in Tusla with Sixkiller's Gaming House and Game Over Entertainment which just had a good turn out for one of their tournaments this past weekend

Game Over Entertainment

I've traveled to Tulsa before and played in Game Over Entertainment's MKX tournament when the game first came out and it was great. I just can't afford to travel to Tusla and pay the tolls and enter fees right now,Ha!

It's really disappointing that the people aren't supporting Mortal Kombat X,Street Fighter,Guilty Gear, or Killer Instinct at Sunny's Game Lounge and HXC Gaming Events here in OKC. Sunny is a really nice guy and Sunny's Game Lounge is a really awesome venue for weeklies and tournaments. HXC Gaming Events do a great job at running events and the TO lives near Sunny's Game Lounge and is a really nice guy too.

Right now the Smash community are the only ones out of the FGC that are taking full advantage of a great venue with streaming and the events for their game.

Yeah, I was the one that actually found and networked with Sixkiller's to make that place a home for us. Both turnouts were pretty nice and I'm happy to say that both events saw new AND old faces. Really glad I could have some part in helping the OK grow in any way.

IDK if this is your intent or not, but reading this very much comes off as a "Every community except smash refuses to support Sunny/The FGC". Like I said, not sure if that's the intent, but that's definitely the vibe I'm getting.

I've never been to Sunny's and don't have any immediate plans on going. I do however go to a weekly Fighting Game tourney (mondays in norman) as well as both Sixkiller tourney's, and the one in Arkansas last month. My not going to Sunny's has nothing to do with me not wanting to help contribute to the scene.

Want to know why I haven't been to Sunny's and don't plan on going any time in the immediate future?
1) Despite being active in the OK FGC facebook group, I rarely hear of MK events happening at Sunny's. I hear a lot of "What if" events like "What if we had a weekly/monthly/whatever" but that's it. I heard of a tournament you guys tried to have a month or two ago, but it was the same day as Sixkiller's which I was already committed to. It's not the FGC's responsibility to go out and find you and assume you're a good venue and whatnot. It's the responsibility of the venue to make flyers/graphics/whathaveyou and promote yourself on relevant pages to entice me to come to your venue.

2) The couple of anecdotal tales I've heard from MK players at Sunny's have not been good. I'm not gonna drop any names, but I had a friend who went there and was doing well in some friendlies (read: bodying people) and then got the cold shoulder the rest of the night, and even some all around negative attitudes just because he was winning.

The other anecdotal tale comes from two friends who showed up for an MK tourney only to see one other guy there to play with, so nothing really came of it.

Between the stories I've heard of it and the presence online and the posts like this and other ones I've seen from people repping Sunny's on various forums, I don't get a vibe of "We are taking this seriously and want to have a good environment for all fighting games!" I get a vibe of "We had a rough start with a couple games and now we are throwing our hands in the air. WTF, fighting game community?"

Maybe Sunny IS a nice guy, and maybe it IS a nice venue, but these things really keep me from wanting to check it out. It's a two way street. If he wants my time and money, I need to see some effort on his part.

I don't mean for any of this to sound angry. I want to provide constructive feedback as to the problems you expressed in your post.

Thanks,
Upfish

I see what your saying and I agree. It's up to the Venue to promote their events and get people to show up. When I mentioned the Smash community showing up to support their game and events at Sunny's Game Lounge and how there hasn't been a lot of support for other fighting games there I was just stating the facts. Meaning that if your interested in going to Sunny's Game Lounge for any other fighting game other than Smash Bros here is why it's not happening right now. Although like you mentioned it's really up to the Venue to promote their events and get people to come in.

I tried to help out by making postings of Sunny's Game Lounge Fight Night weeklies on online sites but it didn't seem to get much interest. Right now Sunny's Game Lounge is making more revenue and getting more people coming locally and out of state for Smash Bros, card games, and shooters. So I understand why the focus has been put on those events at Sunny's Game Lounge. I talked to them and they are open to doing more for the FGC if there is enough support in the future though. So maybe once SFV drops there will be more FGC promotion for Sunny's Game Lounge and more players will be interested in meeting up at a venue like that to play.

It wasn't my intention to come off as being harsh to the FGC in OKC. It's just my experience with finding players to play in the FGC in OKC hasn't been very good since I moved here. It did start out pretty good though when GGXrd dropped and I was going to a players house were a lot of really good players were there meeting up and playing. But then the guy's house got robbed and that stopped understandably. Then I entered a KI tournament but I was the only one who showed up for it. So I learned that there was no offline support for KI in OKC.

Once I found out about Sunny's Game Lounge I thought things would improve with a venue like that and it seemed promising on opening day with some players showing up that day. But than after all the postings on Friday Fight Night it ended up being me and one Street Fighter player there. There was about 4 other people that were playing MKX for a little while but then they left shortly after I arrived. Come to find out they left to go eat and come back after I left,Ha! Oh, well. After that I didn't see anyone showing up for fighting games.

Then there was the MKX tournament at Sunny's Game Lounge were I was the only one who entered it. However I did get to play some really good players who were probably the friends your talking about. I got bodied but it was still fun to at least play some games with some people. It's unfortunate that both tournaments were on the same day but I can understand people going to the tournament in Tulsa if that's the one that were planning on going to in the first place.

On a positive note though. The best experiences that I have had so far in the FGC in OKC has been playing GGXrd and SF with the players I first meet when I started looking for a scene out here in Oklahoma and going to the Game Over Entertainment MKX tournament when the game first came out. The players seem really nice out here and the TO's who run events are super nice and do a really good job at running events. I would have gone to the tournament that they just had this past weekend but I couldn't afford to pay all those tolls plus the entry fee at the time.

On a side note. Just as an example of how cool some of the people in the FGC in Oklahoma can be. When I went to the HXC Gaming tournament for GGXrd and USF4 last year. The tolls really caught me off guard. I didn't realize I would end up spending so much money going there and coming back. The killer was I couldn't get any money out of the ATM's there. So I was really screwed,Ha! I decided to not enter USFIV to save some money for the tolls going back. However the TO of HXC Gaming Ricky took $5 off of my entry fee so that I could play USFIV and have enough for the drive back to OKC. Also when I went to leave a GGXrd player over heard me and HXC Gaming TO Ricky talking about the tolls and he gave me some quarters to help me pay the tolls on the drive back. I finally got to pay Ricky back at Sunny's Game Lounge but I still want to pay that GGXrd player back for helping me out.

The Norman FGC is strong and I dont speak for everyone but I am always down to meet some new people to play but weekends arnt the best for me so I usually have to stick to playing during the week. If there was a monthly or something for MKX/SF/whateverelse I wouldnt mind driving a bit but like UpFish said all I have seen are "what ifs". I all about growing the FCG in Oklahoma, more bodies for me to pile up

I'm cool with meeting up wherever players are going to meet up for sure a regular basis. I haven't had much success with learning or getting better at MKX online. So I'd really like to play some really good players offline that I can talk too who can help me level up in MKX. I want to get better at this game before EVO 2016. Especially when Alien/Xenomorph drops.

I understand people are busy during the Holiday season but I do think that there will be more opportunities and a lot of players wanting to play offline with each other more once Street Fighter V is out.
