If I'm completely honest, I absolutely ALWAYS took the swift learner perk at the beginning of the game until I maxed it out(it gives you substantially more experience for everything you do, why would anyone not take this) and then maxed out my speech as early as possible. So it'll be nice to build a new gameplan. Do you know if karmic alignments still exist?
I'm not sure, i know you can still steal things but idk if you get bad karma for it. Tbh swift learner is probably one of the worst perks in the game. In fallout 4, it definitely would be something to think about since there is no level cap, but since the cap for fo3 is 30, taking swift learner is really just a waste of a perk for that level. Kind of like Here and Now, you're using a perk point to essentially get another perk point and skill points that you would have already gotten anyway.

LOL I always took this route in terms of leveling up too, thought I was the only one.

So... time to walk across Skyrim map is 2 hours and 10 minutes and time to walk across the Fallout 4 map is 11 minutes... I know there's a bunch of things that can be said here so, let's hear em. Thoughts, concerns, is this not a big deal or something to be worried about?

And @SaltShaker . Keep hearing about the perks and leveling but, how are the in game controls/mechanics feeling?

This is the main map right? maybe there are lots of areas to explore etc.

I'm not too worried about it. There was a lot of shit area in Skyrim where there wasn't really anything happening. Definitely nicer to look at a sprawling plain all the way to the mountains but in the end if there's no substance, it doesn't serve much purpose. Do I wish it was bigger? Yeah, but what can you do. Here's a comparison

I thought fallout 3's was fairly small and it looks to be much bigger, albeit a lot is water (dlc maybe)?
The character scales a likely a lot different so should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

Yup. Yeah, I hear that JJ, but same goes for Skyrim, there was plenty of area's to explore. And I would say within an overall map that is about 20 times the distance, it would have to be a SHITLOAD of more area's to explore.

The part of a game being sold as full is real with this one.

Probably gonna pickit up digitally on Monday night. Hope it is rich with shit to explore though, that's what I loved about Skyrim.

It's hard to answer this. Very first thing I did was look at the map. I thought it was some sort of error on my part from it being so small. It looked like 1/10 of New Vegas! Coming from New Vegas and Skyrim I can't understand how there will be the same level of exploration. When you roam it "feels" bigger than the map though. Like it's smaller but there's much less distance between "finding places". Some are literally 20 steps away from another, and some a minute walk. It seems fine for now, but I don't know if that's because I'm not deep in the game or because they made it work.

It feels almost the same from the controls stabdpoint. Maybe a little smoother which is good. The mechanics too. There's less "glitch" stuff, much less actually. Things like the work benches and stuff feel smooth. A lot of it feels improved or feels comfortable with old and new things. The only things that's kind of awkward still is building a colony, but I guess it's because it's new and everyone's first time doing it. You get mini missions to explain how to build each colony and keep your people happy/safe/etc, and sometimes I'm like "huh?" Lol. Other than that I'd say better for sure.

That answer is dead on. Sometimes I sprint to the next place and enemies pop out of nowhere and I have no VATS lol. You sprint with the R3 Analog.
Are there karmic alignments still? Kinda disappointing that the map is so small. DLC incoming

Yea map is significantly smaller. There's a lot of game hours supposedly some I'm curious to see how it works out. It's so much smaller that I feel that there has to be something I'm missing because it's too small on the screen lol.

In New Vegas if you were "bad" so to say you would get the rep across the Wasteland. Same as good. It would effect available opportunities. Not sure if they have that here as I haven't seen any indicator. But it may be later on from what I did see.

For example, what I have seen is the option to make those types of decisions. Without specifics there was a part I was able to side with some goons or attack the goons for doing bad, then if you side with them you can talk to the good person, change your mind and help the good person, attack the good person with the goons, or convince the good person to peacefully work with the goons with high enough Charisma. So being that this level of branching exist in the game it gives me hope that it racks up to karma later.

The only reason Skyrim probably took longer to traverse was because of all the mountains.
New Vegas though. It's map was much, much bigger on the screen. F4 looks about an eigth of the size of the NV map which made me think there was some sort of error on my part that I missed lol. I actually still think that maybe it's a "once you get to a point the map expands" or something. Something! Something has to justify this tiny box of a map I just don't know what it is yet lol.

A lot of people seem to be quite disappointed at the overall size of the map. The GameFAQs forums blew up when someone posted a thread showing the video of how long it took to walk from one end to the other. I sure hope what little area there is to explore is jam packed full of shit to do. Especially since the devs said they put 400 hours into the game.
