Not looking good.

To be honest this will kinda kill my hype if it comes out that late. Game will be too old feeling by then, no ways around it. Very dumb idea to say the least. When it's been in arcades since Feb-March a 2017 date would just be madness. Dudes still think it's 2004 or something.

If SFV disappoints I'm gonna have to just hang up the gloves lol.
So you're tryna tell me that if in a year from now they add a muffin, VR headset and a stuffed pug as customizable items you ain't gonna get super hype! Stop lyin. Gonna get T7, but for now... It's lookin like a watered down version of TTT2 with new characters, dead characters and less characters overall. 90% reduction in creative combos and set ups in some new stages. Oh well... good thing I'm a sucker for Ling in a two piece.

Lmao @ a muffin.

Yea if it was any other game I'd likely bail right now. Even going to play it has a big "dread" feeling now that I know it'll likely take forever to release. How can you get hype for a game not coming out?? Lol! I'd rather have never played the game than to have been given the Ultimate Tease.

Historically bad marketing.

I'm fairly sure Harada is slowly killing Tekken. He's been releasing slightly shittier versions of T5:DR over and over and people are getting sick of it.

Add to that the fact that he can't get with the times and do a simultaneous worldwide console release, and... that's just bad. Pretty much everyone except the eastern countries miss out on the early discovery phases of the game, which are some of the most fun, and where you can really create a mental anchor with the game. Instead, by the time the game comes out, we can just go online and find all of the optimal combos, setups, etc. Kind of takes some of the fun out of it.

Tekken 4 was the last time they did anything worthwhile, had so many new ideas, new looks, and actual Story for once. The fans backlash (F U fans) made harada just stick to the formula he's been recycling since T5, can't say I blame him but shit's getting old.

Yea true. The arcade scene had its day. It was a great time, but it's dead now. Community was smaller, everything wasn't available online, MU exp was grinded out with coins at the machines. Different era. You can't try to push that type of delivery in 2015 and expect amazing results. At this point they'd be so much better off releasing a T7 version and then a DR/BR/wtv version a year or two from now. Anything is better than their current business plan.

Garbage ass Tekken 4. Deserved every ounce of criticism, and possibly wasn't criticized enough. Game was as ass as Jin was OP in it. If I could have the Haitian from Heroes mind wipe it from my memory I would in an instant.

At least they tried to be innovative though and sprinkled in some good ideas along with the epic fail.

Harada is one of the only (maybe THE only?) JP fg devs to acknowledge the console/arcade release date issue and give a serious answer. He understands the concern but hasn't solved the problem yet. Shut the fuck up with that garbage. You don't think he'd love to make everyone happy and get people off his back?

Tekken 7 is mad fun and different. Y'all some idiots

Nah mein, they explored so many new ideas, even if some didn't turn out well I love that they attempted that.
Different shape stages and uneven grounds, which DoA took and polished as you can see in DoA5 (and turned out awesome).

All the cast had new revamped looks and fresh designs. From King with the swag outfit and the long hurr, to Paul with his hair down, Military Hwoa, Lee's disguise, diaper Heihachi (LOL) and the list goes on.
90% of the cast are still rockin their T5 look, shit's lazy and really grinds my gears at this point.

They added walls which was polished in later Tekken games. The story actually moved forward; Kazuya's return, Jin's revamped look and style, more than half the cast in t5 onward has joke endings or pointless Mokujin style story scenes..
Plus in T4 they added characters that actually had new aspects and fighting styles, not some bullshit Italian beam shooter or whatever Claudio's supposed to be.

As much as people want to knock it, it was the last tekken that actually moved forward and it did a lot of things right. The balance wasn't one of them sadly as Jin and Lee ruined the competitive scene, but it's still better than this recylced bullshit we've been getting.
if it was released in the current patch era it would've been fixed by a DR version or a small patch to JFLS and the wall bounce and lived on for much longer.

For the sake of maintaining FGC momentum, he's going to 'space things out.' (Spring 2016 is looking unlikely.)

But he also thinks he can present new news on the game by the end of the year.

Famitsu's Tokyo Game Show Booth did a live stream with Harada on it. http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv234614145…

It may be fun, but it's certainly not different. Same old Tekken. If you like Tekken, it's a fun Tekken. But it's nothing remotely innovative.

As much as people want to knock it, T4 was the last tekken that actually moved forward and it did a lot of things right.
Whether or not it did things right is up for debate, but as a huge T4 fan, I couldn't agree more. It was definitely the last Tekken that truly tried to do something new and took risks with the design.

@Everyone - I miss Zafina, too. She was by far the most interesting addition to Tekken 6. The other characters are uninteresting or just stupid in my opinion. Her design was cool, fun and interesting... I play Lili/Zafina in TTT2. I'll miss her a lot.

So far, the only new character I would consider using in T7 is Josie. And... well... yeah...

How they could of killed of Capoeira for... Damn, I don't even know what to call it? And Zaf's unique as fuck style [Not gonna write her off yet completely] for some of the generic ass new characters they've shown so far, is beyond words.

Well... at least we have more than a years time from now for a significant change, in plenty of things. Currently waiting forever to play what seems like it could have been T6 DLC. :(

My friends and I - those of us who still play and enjoy Tekken - are honestly debating whether or not we'll get T7. It's not like we play Tekken all the time anymore. Maybe once a month now we'll have a session. We've been saying lately that we may just stick with TTT2. It's fun, it's deep, it has everyone you could ever want and making new team combinations is entertaining, and we can do pair play. Etc etc.

Kinda sad when a bunch of lifelong Tekken fans arent overly excited about the new game.

Damn I miss TTT2. My xbox 360 sounds like an air conditioner [Never owned a PS3 or else I would have played it there] and I've since got a new BenQ monitor as well. My last 360 was an old refurbished model with no HDMI [been through multiple 360's], My Benq only has HDMI. I know I can get a converter, but actually hoping the X1 backwards compatible version turns out to be a thing. Will be able to redownload my digital copy for free along with all my saved data and fits from the CLOUD.

Yes, In my opinion as well as yours... TTT2 has an incredible amount of depth that is gonna be hard to beat. Probably my favorite fighting game of all time. Like you said, switching up teams can provide entertainment forever. The mathematical possibilities for set ups and combos is untouchable by any other game.

Gonna get T7, but I'm hoping there is something to add more hype than in it's current form. I also did not play Tekken for nearly as long as you Salt, Eddie and others. I almost feel bad for you guys if they literally release it with not enough of a difference to look forward to. I'm still TTT2 era new so, I get to learn MU's and defense that you guys already have ingrained.

EDIT: Eddie has T7 Jin to look forward to. "Jin in T7 man!"

Mostly looking forward to a solid Online experience from a series that in my opinion has some of the best fundamentals in all of fighting games. And... I absolutely love their customization options, even though right now I'm like... WTF?

This I agree with 100%. The new characters used to be amazingggg. A bunch of great characters who all debuted but apparently aren't coming back in T2 (this is interesting, never thought of this before). Bryan, Eddy, Ling, Hwo in T3. Steve, Marduk, Jin remade, Combat T4. Feng, Asuka, Devil Jin T5. Great character additions during that time.

From T5 DR and forward all the way to T7 the majority of the new characters I either felt meh about or didn't like altogether.

T5 DR
Lili- despise
Dragonuv- meh, good design though

T6 and BR
Zafina- Excellent well made design
Leo- Great character
Miguel- meh
Alisa- I use her some. Still meh
Bob- lol Namco please
Lars- Please delete from game. Tx
Azazel- stupidest boss character in the series

T7
Claudio- LMAO! Really?
Shaheen- meh
Josie- Godlike
Gigas- meh, Marduk was better
Kazumi- They got this one right
Katarina- Not bad, but Anna was better
Lucky Chloe- I would pay money out of my own pocket to have her replaced with an OG character or different new one

It's funny because we all may have a few differences in our lists, but mostly agree that the majority of newer series characters aren't up to par with the old ones lol.
