I have terrible fundamentals and I really want to be good at this game. It's like I understand fundamentals and I can use them when I'm thinking about them, but when I enter a match I go to autopilot and lose like all sense of awareness and just do what I want to do rather than focusing on the opponent and reacting accordingly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

You're the ones I watch the most and consider to have really solid fundamentals if not the best(IMO). Do you have any ideas on how I should be using training mode? I'm more than willing to put in the work and the hours.

Bruh, you should watch/play street fighter /mk9if you want to learn straight fundamentals. John Choi is a ryu player that plays very textbook and fundamentally. Fuudo can teach you about playing on reactions and spacing. Daigo can teach you adapting and downloading an opponent. Smug/Kazonko, both can teach you how to be aggressive and not to be conditioned.

Balrog can show you character mastery, sonyono can show you execution. Momochi/Snake Eyes can show you footsies and patience.

Watching them can show you high level fundamentals. But cross counter TV got some nice fundamental videos to

I play Street Fighter and watch it often. I can manage to maintain my spacing, pressure, and reactions in that game. I don't know what the difference between MK and street fighter is at fundamental level, but there's just something I'm not getting.

I play this game and it's like my brain dies man. It's so crazy

My theory on it is if you got someone from mk9. He'll be good at footsies, being aggressive and playing a up-pace game with reads.

From street fighter you'll get a player that's probably more patient, good at spacing, and execution (1-frame links) with a slow paced game

I do have a problem dealing with pressure. I miss time all my pokes and can't get out of mashing d1's and teching grabs is forever a mystery to me. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make grabs 50/50's is evil.
