Yessir I am in Calgary. I'm CCG Greg! :)

As for casuals, there's dickens, and I was also thinking about hosting an MK-MONDAY thing at my place... mainly because I know that Jimmy is off work on Mondays.
This is a go for tomorrow night, PM me or greg if you are interested, 6:00pm to Midnight.

We will have 2 set ups for sure (PS4), and I might bring my One if predator releases early enough.

Hello fellow Albertans. I picked up MKX about a month ago and have been having an amazing time. This is the first fighting game I've really ever put some time into. At first, my experience with the game was similar to experiences I have had with other fighting games...I loaded it up, looked at the move list, and pulled off some specials. Once I could perform a few special moves with my character I thought, "hmm, i'm getting pretty good at this". I then did something new and jumped online to see what I could do. My mind was quickly blown.

Laugh all you want, but I had never seen more than a 3 or 4 hit combo before. It didn't take long for me to witness 30%-40% combos online. Once seeing this, I quickly realized I have been "doing it wrong" my whole life. Off to the internet I went; after countless videos and paging through forums such as this one, I began to grasp the basics. What I love most about this new discovery for me in the never ending opportunity to improve. I didn't realize fighting games had such depth.

Anyways, I am looking to play some Albertan players online and get to know the community a little better. I see there is a tournament in August in Edmonton. This is very interesting to me but I'd like to play some people who are planning on attending to see if I can even put up enough of a fight to justify entering. Please add me on PSN at DJredeka. Be sure to include in the message that you are a local MKX player.

I live in Edmonton, is there anywhere people can meet up to play real life matches?

Thanks for your time and hope to see you in game!!

Every Wednesday at OKG there is a FGC meet up. Mostly Street Fighter but we do have a pretty good MKX crew here. Also, add me up on PSN and I can help you get ready for the tournament.

Hey man, so I've been on a ton on XB1. My tag is on the side but it's NapalmCL you can add me and we can play some! As for the tournies I don't know if they allow converters but I would try and learn with the PS4 pad anyway because I've heard the converters can have a weird delay that's inconsistent and frustrating.

Well guys, this tourney is shaping up to be a huge one. Just announced $2000 pot bonuses for USFVI, Smash 4 Wii U, Smash Melee, Dota 2, and Leagues along with a beautiful trophy.

Still more pot bonuses to be announced apparently, so there's still hope for MKX! Also, fyi, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at Alberta Beat Down will receive special seeding for this event.

@Jimmypotato MKX is scheduled to start at 3pm on Saturday. We could probably do the 5v5 immediately after while the salt is still strong.
I just found out I work Sunday night, so I'm really hoping Mkx is all done on Saturday, and if the 3PM thing changes please let me know ASAP.

Thanks. Also, if we could for sure run the 5v5 right after that would be great, lol I haven't been playing cause real life, but we will still show up and put up the good fight!~!!!!!

Hey guys, just a heads up. I basically quit MK so I passed off the duties for organizing the ABD tournament to Shiro. Sorry. :(

To keep tabs on what's happening I would suggest you keep in touch with Kadeem, Ben and the other Edmonton dudes including Shiro himself and take a look at the ABD page on facebook. Kadeem says we will still likely have a team of 5 guys together.

are you still making your ps4 available for the tourny, you said you had all the DLC, I'll provide a monitor, or is your PS4 scarred to lose the 5v5 as well?

Unfortunately...it looks like it's only my PS4 that will be available for this event. I do have all the DLC though.

So we have one console for the entire tourney?
Current inventory:

4 Computers
26 Monitors
13 CRTs
13 Wii Us
20 Wiis
17 Gamecubes
9 XBox 360s
10 PS3
1 PS4

So as of right now, yep. Blikkis should be coming too so I'll see he can bring his as well. Also, numbers are looking good for us. Only a few people behind Ultra. Smash is in a league of its own though, obv.

How many people are we at? Just sucks having to bring ps4's down, like I'm sure we'll want more than one tourney station, and some setups for casuals before it starts

Believe me, I agree, man. Seems like most playing the game here have been playing on PC.

As of the 16th, we're sitting at 17 pre-reg. Ultra's at 21. And I know a couple guys who have yet to pre reg for MKX so numbers will go up for us.

Edit: In case you're wondering, Smash WiiU is at 64.

I didn't even know there was a pre reg link lol, probably should get on that. Mind linking?
