so what youre saying is is that there isnt a realy good way to learn about the game together
I guess what you can do is memorize the moves and specials together and take turns trying to link them to make combos. Not really sure what else to say I mean you gotta learn the basics somehow you can try to do that together.

I'm a lover, not a fighter
Hi everybody, I bought MKX and I was wondering how i would go about practicing the game together with my gf. We are both noobs btw:'D
My thoughts would be to initially practice each character separately for a little while and work out which characters you think you have interest in (try basic moves specials and small combos). After you have worked this out, play in practice mode together with your characters and test them out to see what they are like in a real fight to see if you want to continue with them. Talk a lot about how you are going with each character... what is working and what is not so that you can work on it. After this, start playing verses (you can even play some test your luck if you get a bit fatigued from this). You can then give King of the Hill online if that is something you are interested in and give each other feedback afterwards.

I am soooo jealous... I wish I had someone to practice with!!!

Good luck!

the best thing to keep people in the game is winning.
after they tasted the first sweet taste of victory they always come for some more, always...

learn some basics and play single fight, let her win once in awhile:D

It would benefit you both to find another person, online lets say to play also. Maybe even a few. Diversity of opponents is a good thing.
playing people better than you is also helpful, you will lose, alot. But you will be shown the holes in your game and where to improve.
im far from good but I'd love to play some sets if youre ps4. Cordova79

My wife asked me to teach her the other day, so what I did was show her how to throw fans and uppercut with Kitana, picked Lackey Torr and spent half an hour just going from full screen, making my way in and EX command grabbing her full screen away from me. Her goal was to keep me out with fans and uppercut my jump ins. She enjoyed it.

Another thing to do is to visit www.YouTube.com/crosscountertv and watch the SFV Xavier Woods videos, as well as the hour long training session video of Bison VS T.Hawk. They'll show you some exercises that can be adapted to MKX that require two people.

Oh but its not that she doesnt like the game, but it;s about how should we be practicing. Ive been looking at the solo practicing, but I would like to know if there is any way to practice together:)
Go to Two player then hit Versus, choose your characters after the game loads immediately hit pause and give her one for me.

In order to understand Mortal Kombat, you must live Mortal Kombat. When both of you have the day off, take her out back and show her your mixups. When she starts to get the hang of it, begin stomping on her toes and slapping the top of her head. This will teach her more about 50/50s and how to block them effectively. Do this about 3-4 times a week or until her toes are bleeding from all da lowz. Never forget, if she gets outta pocket...duh duh duh FINISH HER! Be careful though, some people might frown upon this because of laws and stuff.

Seriously though, just play a lot with her. If you like rush down characters I'd suggest Liu Kang for new players. If you fancy having better control of space and zoning out your opponent, I'd choose Kenshi. Both of these fighters are fundamentally solid and don't require much in the execution department at a casual level of play. If you decide to get serious, I'd start by learning 1 bnb, 1 punisher, and 1 corner combo. Try not to jump too much. Newer players always tend to frolic around the screen and get punished for like half their health. Dont get discouraged when you're fighting vets and good luck to you both!

Playing together is a good way to point out each others mistakes and give advice, for example "oh you could punish me when I do that", "Is that safe on block?" etc. If you are COMPLETELY clueless about the game there's no need to practice together. I recommend choosing a main, hit up the guides/combo threads/discussion threads for that specific character on TYM and learn basics - then you can play each other and help each other improve.

D4->F2 = unblockable. Ice Clone = unpunishable.
Go into practice mode.

First, learn all your strings. Learn which ones are safe and which are unsafe. Then, practice applying pressure with the safe strings.

Practice B&B combos. These should do the highest damage if you score a jump in.

Practice punishing. Use your fastest normal string to punish, unless you're certain you can punish with a slightly slowler but bigger damage string.

Practice spacing. Then practice whiff punishing.

Figure out which strings have gaps. Practice armouring through said gaps.

Enjoy the game.
