Why does everyone pick dead woods?

The Kove is my favorite stage. It's beautiful w/ the water, and of all the stages, Kove & Dead Woods look like they came from a previos MK.

I don't like Dead Woods - or any dark stage for that matter. I usually just pick the Training Stage because it doesn't lag, corners work properly and interactables are random anyway. I don't like going random because you can end up on crappy stages w/ low visibility like Sky Temple or Infected Stages.

And Korrupted Jinei is clearly the best stage.

The Kove is definitely the best stage, IMO.

Whenever I use quan I go for quan chis fortress or the one with a big obnoxious statue of him in the middle of the stage. Deadwood and the jungle are also my go to.

I play stages based on match ups. If I play a good Kenshi, I want the smallest stage possible. If I'm playing HQT Predator and my opponent is a good johnny cage, I might pick dead woods and pew pew pew!

It's the only stage in this game that looks even slightly reminiscent of a classic MK stage.
It has shades of the living forest from MK2/MK9...
That's why it appeals to me anyway.

I personally either go with Training or Kove for the stage brutality which slightly reminds me of the Dead Pool fatal, because I love the warm fuzzy feeling that nostalgia gives me.

Close to the starting point? Too lazy to select random? The times I've found myself selecting a stage where I don't think about it I either just swipe down/left/right and go with it.

Too lazy to select random? You're on random by default. It requires more effort to pick the stage than it does to just select random.

I get Deadwoods a bunch too, but I can not complain too much because I pick Krossroads 9/10 times. The lighting and overall design just really agrees with my eyes on Krossroads. And the familiarity with its interactables is nice too.

When I do not pick Krossroads, I pick the Kove. I guess your answer would be that people pick stages that they are familiar with because each stage is so unique.

I think I need to adjust my settings, since I often pick the blue color schemed stages simply because they aren't so damn bright. In marketplace and courtyard, it looks like everyone is glowing because of direct sunlight.

Then there's Sky Temple which is so dark I can barely see until I suddenly get blinded by lightning...

I strongly dislike ALL low-lit stages, which also includes dead woods. I need my stages to be fully illuminated. My preference is the Blanche stage

I go dead woods because it's faster than picking random or picking your own stage. The other go to options would be pressing right/left but dead woods looks better than both options. Laziness.
