It really sucks to not be at EVO, i promised before that i would upload some stuff from myself as soon as i could, so take a look:


As i said before, i won't switch characters or variations until Hit Confirm 2 has passed, which is on August 2nd, were i challenged the whole Angolan Community to take me out of the tournament where i will be playing Hat Trick as the only character. To not place big bets for nothing, i gave them a Patrick Jane's (Simon Baker) Classic and transformed this into a 1cent bet to whoever eliminates me from the tournament.


Though i'm tempted to switch to Buzzsaw, i think this variation is a lot of fun, and has me going with some perks i've been using before on MK9 with Skarlet, such as the blockstrings, armored spin trades, meaty HCBs and a lot of good neutral

The hat trap adds a really powerfull layer, basically the trap will set all possible situations for you, then all you need to do is predict your opponent next move.

Sometimes they run in to interrupt HCB, sometimes they risk a punishable special, and sometimes they jump, on correct distances you should be able to tell which one is who and then use your next move accordingly.

One of the most beautiful things i've ever seen with hat trick, is placing a hat, punishing a bad reaction and combining your string with HCB into another combo into HKD into Hat Trap again, it such a synergy.

When you were doing the strings and ending in hat call back how plus/negative were you? Like EX Hat spin or regular hat spin? It was giving me shades of Tempest Lao pressure.

I think its like +13 however I'm not quite sure, but it's enough that there is no gap and it cannot be armored out.

You can't keep looping it like Tempest but it costs you only like 10% of a bar so whatever, and does end with a safe Hat trap set up so its worth doing every opportunity you get

Ok here's the combo's I don't like

At 0:10 you open up with B22 and follow it up with Hat Trap, 11, Hat Callback, Spin, 21, when doing the much easier to execute combo of B22xxSpin, NjP, JiK, JiKxDK, 21 is much easier to execute, , and does 1.5x as much damage, and ends in the same knockdown and is an easy hitconfirm (B22). Later on you did it again and forgot to do the Spin giving you only 17% instead of 27%. Thats game deciding differences. You also do a similar one later on off a 11212 starter but that only costs you like 2% so I guess it's not as bad, still doesn't seem optimal however. At 5:53 you tried to do the Hat Toss HCB in the middle of an Ex-TP ex-Throw combo after the NjP, dropping it and giving you only 33% for 2 bars, and it still gives you less damage than just finishing it the easy way (JKxDK, 21 = 42%).

At 2:14 you do an NjP and follow it up with JiK, 1, 21, when you can get nearly double this by going NjP, B321xxSpin, JiK, JiKxxDK, 21


Also, I'm all for taking the consistency of Spin after HCB when they are on the ground, and this is just a personal one, but when you connect a Hat Calback on someone in the air its REALLY easy to convert them with B321 after giving you 26% instead of 21%.


If any of this is accidental button pressing then forget I said it, I make a million mistakes like this all day lol. But if these are your go-to combos, I don't necessarily like them :D all that being said, your play is awesome and I love watching it

I wasn't settling myself yet, if you see as the video goes, i start to do much harder combos.
Yes B22~spin is much easier to hit confirm, but sometimes i dunno if they will block it or not, so to avoid giving them a free punish i use the hat trap, in case they block, the punish won't be as severe.

B22~hat trap, 11~Hat Call Back~B321~spin, 21 is my default corner punish now, i dropped everything else, is 26% meterless, and is very easy to hit confirm.

Ok, what I do is hit confirm into B22xxSpin, NjP, JiK, JiKxDK, 21 for 27%, and if they block B22, instead of pressing 1, I just press 2, and get the Hat Trap, and now we in the exact same situation. It also feels a LOT easier to execute for me. That's what I meant by hitconfirming. Just something to take note of. But these are just suggestions I mean go with whatever feels most comfortable for you, if you can get 26% off that same opener and it works for, I guess thats only 1% less :)

Yeah that is true, i'm no selfish, i take whatever i can get, discussing a character among other players also helps on his growth much faster.

Or you could both do my corner bnb which is B22~DF2, D4~DD2, B321~DF1, JK~DK, JK~DK which is 33% meterless :p

The tournament is in August, in there i will see how far this character can go.

Its a win win situation even if lose, i've been winning since MK9 and no one has never stopped my streak just yet, which kinda sucks, so if i don't win this one they will not ask me to step out a tournament, which is what some are asking me to do because the gap between 1st and second on a tournament setting is too big.

First place since 2012, I only lost on the first tournament because it was single elimination, but after that, my Red Head character never ceased to surprise.

If Skarlet or Sareena really will not be in MKX, i will definitely stick to Lao, but he still needs some work to be done, i'm not buying him as a solid character just yet, some of the problems are too obvious, like the above had trap and the away hat trap.

I wish the above hat trap could be placed above but bit in front or behind with a command, just like we do with regular Hat trap.

Also the recovery of Away Hat Trap and Away low hat trap is too big.

Hat call back bluff into grab on raiden was God like!!! Am yo kun lao is awesome to watch those chain fists!!! I find it hard to do kun lao's chain fists...upload more hat trick fights!!!
