Hey guys I need some help. I'm fresh with Raiden. In the thunder god variation. I need a good tip on how to do the thunder cancel after b13. I can never connect in time to continue my combo

Which part are you messing up? Practice this; b13 -> db2 and make sure you get the Lightning out. Once you can smoothly get this out practice holding the 2 at the end. Once you practice holding the 2, work towards the actual run cancel (FF +R2) and cancel into 214. My best advice is to understand it's not all one solid input at all, after you input the run cancel you need to immediately press the 214 so it comes out in time.

Just was labbing with raiden for prolly the second time since the game been out and usually an kung Lao/sonya main. I can dig raiden. Anything worth noticing about like tech, big variations changes since the patch?

i have a trick for you btw

b2 has a lot of range, ppl aren't expecting the overhead from max range. sometimes when i get ppl cornered, ill do something like f12 on block, walk back, b3 or b2.

b2 i know the range is way better but 1 whiff and you are -63 + recovery dead!

Not seeing a raiden in top 8 since his nerf is clear evidence that that f1 being high was the absolute worst way to handle it. It destroyed his nuetral game. He's like killer frost now, 50/50 or bust.

TG is maybe top 10 and the other two are low mid tier

thunder god is still good and has a handful of tricks to develop still. superman threat, njP, and his b3 are still great on top of his combos/mixup/setup.
his metered anti air is quite good.

some stuff we have to try:
faking people out with db1 charge, make them neutral duck, then run in for pressure.
more f2. f2 2+4, f24 LRC, and f2 in general. it's not easy to get them at first, but it should be a goal, to get them to block f2.
d4 is slow startup but it is very large and hard to whiff punish (and only -3 on block). raiden can be played a bit like a wall with this move and the db1 shenanigans to get into better positions.

however, i'm not going to say i have a great idea on how he is, as i have not been playing recently.

nivek and dizzy probably have much more valid ideas and are far better players than me. and digit of course

He's definitely top ten. His f1 is a great Anti air/anti cross up. His armor is great. His damage is great. His 50/50 is great. And he's safe on everything. I'm just not sure about top 3 or even top 5 anymore. His nuetral game is average at best and he desperately needs b1,1 fixed @GGA Dizzy @Digit @Nivek where do you guys think raiden stands now

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but has anybody tried countering NJP with normal Vicinity Blast, i.e. DB2? I did this by accident a few days ago against somebody in the corner and it hit them out of the jump.

yep, slow start up as a wake up though I wish It started up faster

Yeah I love db2, If they made the start up a little faster I would use it all the time

So I just bought predator and realized his f4 is the exact same move as raidens f4. Same distance, same animation, same knockdown, and both mid. Only difference? Raidens is -12 and predators is +2 and faster. LOL thanks for the kick in the teeth NRS

But when you hit with Raiden's f4 you win instantly. What does Pred get? Damage? Safe on block? Who needs that when you are made out of lightning?

guys what's the best way to deal with ppl who used to poke a lot ? I have problem with ermac (think its d3 or d4) or shinok for example.
Usually when I fight ppl who use poke, I tend to use F12 and got poked out all the time since F1 is high.
How do you deal with ppl who use to spam pokes ? I try to back dash but it's hard or even jump

I've been saying for a while he's not nearly as good after the nerfs even when people still had him in like top 3. I think as the game has grown it has been shown that your tools in neutral matter a lot.

It's funny also that all these characters can do 10% chip damage or more and raiden got his chip damage nerfed lol. He needs help with his mids or he's going to start getting dropped. I saw so many wiffed b1,1s on stream

Ya simply because people freaked out because of one tournament. Frickin Liu kang was getting like 20% chip.
