Let's talk: MKX on PC

Grumptronix

Fuck off, I'm not grumpy
im talking strictly on a visual aspect not performance. PC's will almost always have better graphics than consoles. Whether they are optimal for game play, that is a different discussion. That's something that is addressed in the porting of the game; in which MKX's PC port is shit.

And yes, to reiterate again, they are way better even if you dont have a GTX 970/980. I dont have one still and it blows PS4 graphics out of the water.

Could you try not disrespecting someone else because you expect an insult. Everyone isnt without manners or respect.
Let's agree to disagree.

Internet is serious business.

Edit: And this was never an argument of "Are PC graphics better than console". That was never negotiable. This port is awful on all fronts, and those that can run it well are lucky (the 63% positive Steam review proves this).

I played PC for 3 weeks while xbone online was broken and it seemed fine. Looks great, runs fine, and had some great online connections.

Hey all,

Just want to post a few things I've discovered over the last few days since the Predator patch was released. Apologies if some of this is common knowledge, but I haven't seen anyone post it yet.

For most, I think we can all agree the major issue introduced with this patch is the Practice crash, where the game will crash after about 15 to 20 minutes of practice. I've read on the Steam Forums of a work around: Apparently, you can prevent this by changing your AI opponent's Variation. This seems to reset the "timer" that causes the crash, and people have tested for over an hour with success.

While it does suck to have to do this, say, every 10 minutes, if it works, it's better than an actual crash until this bug is fixed. I was going to test tonight, but only got about 5 minutes in Practice before a buddy wanted to play. Can anyone confirm this work around actually works?

Many are also frustrated with the lack of the Jul. 2nd balance patch. As I understand it, the Xbox One version of the game also lacks this patch (please correct me if I'm wrong), and possible also the EU PlayStation 4 version. It seems the Jul. 2nd patch is only available on the US PlayStation 4 version of the game.

If this is correct, then in terms of balance the PC version is, actually, on par for the first time in well over a month, and it's actually the PlayStation 4 version that's ahead of the others; likely due to it being the tournament standard and for EVO.

Others have also complained about simpler cosmetic things, the lack of the walk-out animations on character select being the most I see. This is confirmed in the Xbox One version as well, and thus is not PC specific. Not sure if they've been "removed" in the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

In terms of system performance, obviously the PC version has had very mixed results for lots of people. For myself though, this patch seems to have improved performance. I can now run the game, for the first time since the Jason Patch, with Vertical Sync at fixed. The game looks better than ever, and while I haven't actually use GeForce Experience or Steam to watch the frame count, the few drops I've noticed have been negligible or outside of actual gameplay, which to me isn't something I'm going to freak about.

So outside of the Practice Crash, which seems to have a work around, this patch actually has seemed to have done a lot of good, at least from my experience.

Note that this post is in no way meant to dispute, refute, belittle, or trivialize those of you who are still or experiencing worse system/performance issues since this patch. For you, I really, really hope that a future patch or system tweaking on your end ultimately resolves your issues well enough.

So after playing with the settings in the PC Video, the crashing in practice seems to have stopped. Ive been going solid for an hour now but im not sure if I am just lucky. Ill keep you posted.

Edit: Lasted over an hour but ended up crashing. Funny enough, it always crashes while doing the same thing, which was firing a jax rocket. If I leave the game on, it wont crash. Only when I start doing stuff.

This is outside of Practice Mode as well?

System specs? You have the latest drivers for your graphics card?
i dont know i havent tried outside of practice mode, im only choosing various maps in practice mode and it always crashes.
yes i have latest update but does it really matter, it is clear as the sky that it is not a problem from my side.
and as far as i understand im not the only one with these crashes, well, i then hope that they will address it. although i highly doubt it. i do not believe in WB marketing and HVS developer skills anymore. As a matter of fact, i dont believe in HVS developer skills since MK9 launch.

I don't care I'm not a competitive player anymore
First of all for MOST players game runs ok. Obviously those idk 100 maybe even 500 who has problems are the loudest on Steam forums but that doesn't change the fact that for most PC owners it works more or less ok.
1. If you appreciate gaming at all, you avoid Steam forums like the plague.
2. MOST PC players that bought the game have ceased playing/switched platforms due to port issue/patching discrepancies.
3. MOST PC players currently playing have minimal issues with the port strictly based on #2.

Keep switching variations for the ai and you're good to go guys, do that every 10 minutes to fix the lab crash.
I know it sounds kinda annoying but it beats having the game freeze up on you.

The Predator patch introduced a bug where it crashes in Practice Mode every 15 to 20 minutes.

Steam forums are just as bad as youtube comment sections. And don't get me started on how people do their reviews. I've seen enough 10/10 IGN posts to just ignore the entire forums as a joke or downvote and look for meaningful content.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
*checks last time playing MKX was Tanya's release*

Yup...PC edition fucking killed this for me. It just doesn't run for shit.

EntropicByDesign

It's all so very confusing.
Finally had some time to play.. Im getting the practice mode crash like most people, and my frame rates have become junk. It dips constantly, causing stutters and slowdowns.. Its mostly unplayable.

Latest drivers
GTX 970
I5 4690k
MSI Gaming G series mobo
8 gig (dont remember exact specs but its good memory)
installed and running on my SSD.,

I just downplayed Shadows down to High, Textures to Medium, Depth of Field OFF, Particle Density down to 0, Native Res down from 1080p to 900p, and then Anti-Aliasing down to 5. The game runs steadily than ever.

I'm running on an FX-8350, 8GB of RAM, and an ASUS DirectCU II R9 280x 3GB OC Ed video card.

I thought I can run this at 1080p at Ultra with no fuss based on "recommended" system requirements, but hell no I can't. Is there still hope in this PC port?!

I finally got my unlocks from mobile, including the mime skins. I am pretty sure this was one of the PC issue.
