So... Any characters worth picking up?

I main about four ninjas, but Sub Zero has been my go to guy ever since they castrated Ermac.
Now even Sub Zero isn't cutting the mustard.
So, I want to know which of these characters, in the always humble and reserved opinion of my beloved TYM community, is worth really mastering up and can do work: Reptile, Smoke, Kitana, Kenshi, or Skarlet.

Ahh, to bad Sub-Zero isn't doing it for you.

Maybe try out Mileena and Liu Kang.

or if you really want Ninja's you should go further into Smoke.

I can still put boot to behind with Sub Zero, but Kitana/Kabal are real PITAs.
I'm thinking Smoke too. :)

If you want better than average characters, go with Reptile, Kenshi and Kitana. If you want to play characters you have to work at a bit, go Smoke and Skarlet.

All of them are good bruisers but Reptile, Kenshi and Kitana have the biggest output.

Ok. Yeah, I was thinking either Smoke, Reptile, or Kitana mainly. Tell me, Mr. Smoke, can Smoke compete at a high level in your opinion? I feel like you would know better than anyone.
And I have no problem with a character that takes awhile to learn. I am a fan of that actually.

Lol, Mr. Smoke, that's pretty funny, i've played Smoke since the beginning but I don't think i'm the best Smoke yet. However, from what i've gathered, overall he does have the ability to compete at high levels, especially now since he has the reset to really punish his opponents(I don't use it personally) but since all of his combo starters are high, you have to get creative in how you psych out your opponent. If you want to learn more about him, you should go to the Smoke forums, we've got tons of info. there.
Smoke does have some jarringly bad matchups, mostly people who can get in his face, stay in his face and get back in if you get away. So I recommend getting good either with Kitana or Reptile to cover his bad matchups.

So either way I need to be a master of the fans or of the dash? Awesome. Well unless Sub Zero covers Smokes bad match ups, I guess I'll master Reptile. I got a little excited about Smoke though. I may just end up learning two characters.

Oh snap double post... Thanks to my boy PunisherAlive and subzerosmerai I'm going to pick up Reptile with a little Smoke on the side. Got Reptile's combos down pretty fast, and I just fought a Skarlet with a pretty good record and dominated. Thanks again guys, pros as always.

I would go with smoke, his ass is incredible if you saw Chris G vs that one smoke player, he SLAUGHTERED chris g

Smoke is really good, but you have to be careful, you can't just throw out teleports left and right or you will get punished, but he has some great fairly safe techniques. The main thing about him is try to mix up alot of attacks because if you get predictable you will get demolished most of his missed/blocked moves are very punishable.

After a while you'll get bored of Reptile.

You'll feel a bit cheap of all that dashing and online noone can punish it.

With Smoke you'll never get bored.

also if you'd like a change you should take a look at Sektor and Mileena.

Mileena can telekick every projectile in the game on reaction, you can't jump in because of Balroll.

Every hitted telekick is a free JiP/Throw

IAS To zone.
