Dispite how much I love me some Tanya, I gotta say how she was built up kinda pisses me off. Lookin at her variations, how they were designed to play differently, I can see how much detail and time they spent on her to make each stance feel unique. So far she is the embodiment of how this variation style works. Each style can contest for your top pick. One doesn't overshadow the other.

Now what the fuck happened with Subz-Unbreakable?
Unbreakable gives you a free punish on every string that has a gap and gives you massive damage reduction. Its very underplayed but otherwise its very good.

This is my billionth life cycle.
Fox managed to antiair MIT a few times and convert into damage, but in the end it wasn't enough.

I'm not even suggesting adjusting or tweaking Tanya's other tools, just air Teleport. I don't think them costing 1 bar stamina will limit her that much. She doesn't use stamina in the ground anyway, and would still have access to ground teleport to move and dodge around. If I'm missing something --the big picture if you will-- I'm more than willing to admit I was wrong. Having said that, watching the best EB look helpless against the best Tanya takes the player factor out of the equation, leaving only the characters themselves to make an assessment: Tanya is certainly equipped with a very powerful tool that could be toned down just a notch.
She's a damn good character, but I'm confident in saying that Tanya's a pretty bad MU for EB so its not quite fair to use it as an example of her overpoweredness, better to look at the larger cast as a whole and how they can compete with it rather than just EB.

Why do people put definitive numbers out there? We don't even know the tiers of characters that were there from launch, now we know Tanya's placement? Tiers are MATCH-UP BASED!
Amazing how people are forgetting this. Problem is it seems people are scared to talk about MU's cause they think they will get blown up, such is TYM

A zoning character's tools require patience to get around and everyone is demanding nerfs.
im with you on the let it rock vibe but then you switch it up and don't want raiden to let it rock? The other 2 variations are mid tier, if you nerf yet another fundamental move it will bring them even lower

I got to play Wonder Chef's Tanya (Dragon Naginata) in the grand finals of WNF last night, and I absolutely got my shit pushed in. I had very, very llittle match up knowledge of Tanya prior and I feel Tanya greatly benefits from that. She seems so different from the rest of the cast, and you really need to approach her differently than any other character. With that said, I wouldn't go crying for nerfs just yet. People should level up and lab the shit out of her (Myself included) and once we get a better understanding of her, we can discuss whether or not she's actually broken.

I wasn't arguing in favor of nerfing Raiden. I was arguing against the idea that the character would be useless if a move did change. There's a difference.

My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
Yet other characters with more options and more tools are fair because they play like Marvel? Maybe we should concentrate on balancing them first before a two week character that will soon be figured out, no?

Off the top of my head characters with 3 tournament viable variations-

Jax. Quan Chi. Johnny Cage. Cassie. Kenshi.

Apparently.
Why are you bringing up marvel in an mk discussion? Who has more options and tools than Tanya? Do they also have air 50/50s and teleport?

Also, my statement about being an illiterate rush down fool was a sarcastic reference to m2 daves post. If you did not pick up in that, then it is disheartening to see you rush to passive aggressively insulting someone with a different opinion than yours.

Your reply to my post had so much fail in it that I wouldn't know where to start. All I can say is "lol".

TG wouldnt be useless, just like TG wasnt useless after f1 was nerfed, but now the other two variations are (the mid into shocker was the only thing making people not just duck from a certain range because the other f2 mid wiffs at long range, 214 is now super stuffable so i have to resort to d1 . If anything needs to be adjusted its the unique moves to TG not the fundamental ones

Too early to tell, but I think she has all the tools to be S+ when all is said and done. Time will tell.

Edit: I don't even think the original roster has been explored enough, let alone dlc's.
