Wifi Players Notification

It's common knowledge at this point (I hope) that a hardline connection is superior to a wireless one.

When I get online and join a room, a good chunk of time is spent sorting the ping qualities with multiple refreshes until I find a suitable and available player. A lot of times I'll notice particular players that will show up as 3/4 green bars, but then later show up as red bars only to return to green bars eventually. This makes me suspect wifi and I avoid.

But you still get those players that show 4-bars, but once you start playing, the lag spikes or is downright unbearable as a whole. Again, this strikes me as a wifi-related issue.

So I end up asking myself while seeing this, "Why isn't there an indicator to distinguish the hardlines from the wifi?"

Your console knows if you're wireless or hardline. So it can't be an issue of it not being feasible, can it? It just seems like an obvious feature to me and would really help alleviate some frustration when setting up your matches.

Anybody know why this isn't a feature? As far as I know, no games do this. So it's not just an MK-thing.

The truth is much simpler than this even. How about they just make the online stronger as a whole. WiFi is never a problem on any other game but MK. By not having a strong online game I think they really dropped the ball. Only because some time's I go to punish a move and the punish does not come out at all. This seems to be a big problem when I'm facing a Subzero that slides the whole time and lag causes me not to be able to punish that shit with a full combo. This game online can turn match ups into something false...............Yeah it needs fixed. We need a better online game. It shouldn't matter what we are playing on.

I do agree the online still needs improvement, but Wifi makes a BIG difference. It's not nearly as stable as being wired and thus you get random lag spikes. This is true for all FG's online. Wired will always be much better than wireless.

Honestly, I would love if there was an indicator for who's wired and who isn't. I hate running into a player who's got 4 bars when we start the set and by time it's over, he's down to 1.

wired indicators do not matter when the persons connection is already awful, them being on wired will not help having 200 ping. A lot of people overestimate how much wired truly helps, it does make somewhat of a difference but if you already have good connection and you play wireless you're most likely going to be fine.

Sometimes low bars can be deceiving, there are times where I faced someone with zero bars and the connection was perfect, beautiful. But then I have green bay matches are ate near unplayable. Then again I mostly play private matches and I think the connections in private matches are much better

The area I live in has spikes of radio interference that can cause problems with wifi signals to the point where you have to put your device NEXT to the modem to download anything (it's so bad, we can't have a cordless phone). During these times, I can stream/download/upload any number of files wired with no problem. As you have no control over outside factors like interference, the best thing you can do to mitigate the causes entirely by using a wired connection, then you only have to deal with netcode and line issues.

Well, if you're a 200 ping you're going to show red bars and you wouldn't play in the first place. Likewise, if two players have a decent connection, wifi might play decent most of the time, but you still get the random spikes and shit.

Btw @SUBMARCOS , I agree. The way all MK games have ever played online is a shame. Almost 11 years and six games (going back to MKD) and they're always subpar by consensus.

But we have what we have. So it's a matter of making your personal experience as solid as you can. This would help.

I understand this completely. I'm traditionally pretty anal when I play. And guys from the boards are typically more like that as far as not having people downloading and shit when they're on.

Instead of having an indicator for a wireless signal we should just put a wheelchair next to their name because in the world of online, these people are disabled.

I have to play wireless because of my living circumstances, I also have about 200-250 ms. The solution that works best for me is fairly simple:
I DON'T PLAY ONLINE.

it ticks me off how so many people including the people on the livestreams are so ignorant to how the internet works. the reason they are stating wired connection is better is because of netcode for this game. that is the bottom line. the only way you would get a perfect absolution connection is plugging your modem straight into the console. But still. it's an excuse, but it is what it is. and I'm really sick of all the snobs saying "OMG I don't play online" "or I'm top tier and my shit doesn't smell I can't do those combos online and Sub zero still needs buffs." Not everybody lives in Atlanta, Chicago or NYC or down the road from a scene of "offline players". some of us are also 33, single. have two jobs, student loans, do our own laundry and don't have our girlfriends or moms to take care of our babies or are infinitely rich to travel all over the country to play tournaments where we win 10k but have to pay half of it back in taxes. In theory, they could have used that money to make better online experiences and have better game....but oh well. it is what it is.

from my experiences though...online is hit or miss. some days it is great. sometimes it's not. and for everyone's information I don't play on wireless because I'm aware it needs a wired connection because of the netcode.

Lets really be honest though. If I play KI online on a wifi it's really strong. There is no reason why MKX can't be just as strong. NO REASON AT ALL!
I don't understand. This isn't a debate. Every idea being presented by the OP can only benefit everyone and whether you believe it or not, it is FACT that being wired will improve any connection whether it's by a small amount or a lot. It can only help make online smoother for you and everyone else you play against. Why are you so against that?

If you are playing on Wifi you have no right to complain on how NRS implements netplay. You aren't doing your part so why should they?

PS: KI sucks on Wifi as well unless you are ok with Spinal hitting you after a teleport you never saw start up or teleporting Sabrewulf that suddenly has you in mid-throw

Actually KI uses GGPO

KI was designed originally for Xbox 360

GGPO is extremely demanding on the system

MKX is far more demanding on the processor and resources of the system

Therefor information has been told to me from someone closely related to GGPO that GGPO wasn't an option for MKX because how much GGPO demands on system resources and MKx as well could cause system failures

What else u got because I assure u I know more probably on this subject

I've tried to lay it out in lamens terms yet be efficient
