What's new

Special randomly comes out.

But I didn't want to dash
I'm just trying to figure out if this is a training mode issue or not. I set the dummy to record and I recorder one set of inputs to repeat. I'm trying to figure out why sometimes he'll dash and sometimes do f21 even though it's the exact same input every time. I don't think it's anything crazy but it would be cool to know what's actually happening.

Here's a video of it. I try putting him in block stun and letting him move freely.

Gesture Required Ahead

Get on that hook
Something to do with input windows and the fact that you walk back and forth. Elbow dash input is BF2 and you do F21 right after walking back and forth. So kind of like OSing it

The game will continue to do those inputs with the same timing, regardless of game situations. So things like hitstun and blockstun can throw off the timing, causing the inputs to be read differently. For instance, if you record them doing a jumpkick but then knock them down, if the "up" input goes through before they get up, then there's a good chance they will just stand up and kick.

Yes but that's not what's happening here. If you notice when I'm doing nothing at all the recording gets a dash every other time even though the input is the same. Also even after putting him in block stun there seems to be more than enough time for all inputs to come out.

It's probably nothing honestly but anything that can give us a better understanding of the game is good imo.

With "Release Check" (also called Negative Edge) in the options menu turned ON, there will sometimes be a glitch that causes a random special to come out in the middle of a combo. With it turned OFF, this won't happen. A lot of tournament players keep it off, but it's give or take because keeping it on also has its advantages.

For example: With Injustice, I keep it on and I know my character (Deathstroke) very well. The only disadvantage to keeping it on basically messes up the two hit "Never Saw It" combo -- which (granted) is a good mixup and causes a hard knock down, blocking off a tech roll. But the combo is still not that useful, and basically what keeping Release Check ON does to this combo is reads it as you inputting a low gun shot special move instead of the second hit from the combo. It's kind of a glitch.
