what is "option select " ?

Option selects are when you do an input and different results happen depending on the situation at hand.

For example, in MKX you can option select Reptile's B3 xx EX Swipe. Meaning that if B3 is blocked, you get a backdash whereas if it were to hit, you get the EX Swipe for your combo. To do this particular one, you do B3 xx EX Swipe, BBB. There are many option selects in this game and they are all done differently. There are also option selects in other Fighting Games
