What's new

2 simple questions inside.

I've been out of the loop for MK9 for quite some time, IIRC, last time I played it seriously was late July/early - mid August. Just have been busy with things, specifically Gears of War 3 things.

So, I've started playing again, last week, I've noticed, that the execution of strings and moves feel WAY better! The responsiveness feels to crisp and clean, there's minimal weird delays and such. I wanted to know, was there anything changed? What ever it was, please do keep it, game feels way better.

Second, the online, which I hardly touch, is still horrendous. I mostly play offline with friends or AI, but I've tried playing 2 simple matches, and you can't even get a simple JIP going, the delay, lag or what ever it is, is atrocious. I don't remember being it this bad when I previously played.

Anyways, that's all I wanted to know, or is this all a placebo effect?

Thanks.

Dear Karried,

A bunch of stuff happened.

...Just trollin' ya. Um...basically, negative edge got massively tweaked, wake-ups got extra invincibility frames on start-end, nearly everyone on the roster got a few tweaks here and there...I know nothing of the technical bits, but gameplay, in every aspect other than online or if you main Johnny Cage, has been scienced up and improved. IMO, anyway. I've been way happier with it post-patch. Just wish said MKO was a more viable source of entertainment...I've tried it a few times, and while mine in particular isn't any worse than before 1.05, it's certainly not any better, and the new string of big GoW3-level releases lately has really deserted out the rooms.

same thing happened to me, i stopped online for like 2 to 3 months, i come back, and i cant hit anything....i didnt know if the online got worse, or if it was just me not being used to it.
well i think it was me, cus now, while still bad, i can win and connect on combos on a 70% basis :)

I could just be that shitty, but it feels like the input delay online has gotten worse. I've been doing bad, even by my standards since its dropped. Would a smaller negative edge do that? Or am I just really bad?

Yes, much has changed over the months.

The netcode seems to have gotten progressively worse ever since the game was released, but I've become used to the delays now and can hold my own online - to an extent. There are still people I connect quite well with, whereas on other occasions it's extremely ridiculous. I would recommend avoiding King of the Hill, as we tend to get booted from there 100% of the time and connections are laggier than usual because of how it has to support multiple I.P. addresses.

As for your success rate with connecting combos, that would be due to the negative edge receiving a fix, as was already mentioned.
