it was a good game, but also a big dissapointment at the same time, it was the first re game(next gen) after so many years. But the fact that i finished the game within 7 hours is something I hate, the other thing was that they didnt really add something new to it, just better graphics, re4 and 5 should be the other way around. And i also never liked the fact that wesker got ssj powers.
See, I should've enjoyed RE5, I played through the entire game with my buddy. But, the game was not memorable in the least and I had no desire whatsoever to replay it. I immediately got rid of it after beating it - unlike 4 which I can beat and immediately replay and enjoy again. That, and the boss fights, were all very fun in RE4. The characters were properly done, too, Krauser was a bad ass and Wesker orchestrated everything in the shadows; like he's supposed to. Oh, and the Stranger. Being able to actually organize my inventory was nice, too.

RE4 was a great action game. The game had absolutely nothing to do with survival horror. I hope the next RE game goes back to its roots and delivers a great survival horror game.

There's already one in the making and it looks pretty bad. You're supposed to be assassinating Leon or something in Raccoon City.

I know I'll get universally lambasted for this, but I preferred RE5 to RE4... mainly because RE4, to me, always seemed like there was always an abundance of ammo. It was literally like shooting fish in a barrel. RE5, at least made me feel like I had to conserve to a degree.

Also, please don't forget how good RECV is... IMO one of the best(if not THE best) in the series.

RE3, is actually one of my favorites... many people didn't like it because it was significantly shorter than RE2. Remember though, the premise of RE3 is about TIME... and lack of it. RE3 is the only game where you truly feel a sense of urgency, like you're racing the clock. See, RE3, when played properly, you're supposed to fight Nemesis EVERY TIME, finish the game quickly, complete all the puzzles, and also NOT USE FIRST AID SPRAYS. The trick was conserving ammo, dodging unnecessary zombies, not needing to heal, and you had to do all this QUICKLY. For that, RE3 will always be one of my favorites... its a very underrated game.

RE4 was good, it just wasn't memorable to me because it wasn't RE. I still liked it though.. it was fun to play.

The reason I liked 3 was the fear factor knowing that Nemesis could come slap your shit at any moment. Really made me play on edge unlike the others where if I heard the change in music, you knew something was coming. 2 still scared me the most as a kid but that's just my take on it.

i never played code veronica. should i get it? is it good? never really seen much appeal in the RE spin-offs.

RE4 and 5 are amazing games. But they arent Resident Evil games. At all. Not just talking about gameplay. Plot, atmosphere, character attributes. They should have just made it into a brand new game. change a few names. done.

RE2 was hands down the best. No contest. May not be exciting to somebody playing it now other than classic fans. But trust me, it was way ahead of its time for epic scope.

If we ever got a full-on remake like RE1 got. I would never in my life, EVER ask for another game again.

RE1 and 2 are awesome. nearly as good as the old zelda games

Pretty sure our oppinions are going to differ on what i'm about to say, but here goes. This is the problem with gaming in the modern age. Yes RE5 only really had a couple of tense moments (lurkers in the tunnel pushing crate). But the game was fantastic as an action game. Scenery and graphics were big and flashy, was like RE went on an action adventure on a grand scale, and it was mad fun. But here's my take on Co-op. You can't enjoy a single player experience and appreciate it with co-op, AT ALL. Maybe after a playthrough or 2 by yourself to soak in it, but as a first time? nope nadda. Playing co-op goes like this. You and your friends chat it up, crack jokes, talk shit, and just have pure conversations most of the time. This takes you completely and utterly out of the atmosphere the game provides. Of course there are no tense moments in the day or night when you and your buddy and chatting through the whole thing and you have each other as mental cruches to fall back on which is why you don't get scared or nervous. Also with co-op no matter how bad a story is, or how good, you cannot appreciate or enjoy it for what it is. Try watching a horror movie, a really good one with a friend or group of friends and tell me if it's scary. Now if you'd have watched that same movie in the dark, with headphones on alone, it is a completely different experience. This works for most movies out there. I remember seeing certain movies with friends and hating them, I then saw them on my own so I could engulf myself in the lore, atmosphere and plot and fell in love with said movies. I'm willing to bet your experience would have been so much better if you'd have gone it alone on at least hard for the first playthrough.

Myself I cannot go through co-op games with strangers or friends for my first time, cause I want to become the character, I want to absorb the atmosphere and experience it as If I were there which leads to a more enjoyable experience. After I go through it I can play with friends. Now I get certain games are a blast on co-op and even better than going it alone a la Shaolin monks, guardian heroes, there are exceptions.

The game has pretty good write-ups/ reviews. i was hoping someone in this thread had played it before. Not sure whether to buy it or not
If you've never played it, it's a great game. VERY VERY campy though, the acting is uber cheesy. It does not hold up well at all in this day and age. At it's time it was great though. And these cash in's that capcom are doing, are making me sick. They are upscaling and not giving a true HD experience and then charging a high price. The least they could have done for all the millions we've given them over the years was put some work into it. I really hate their ethics.

I agree, even if re3 was one of the games I liked less, IT WAS the sacriest one, nemesis scared the shit out of me when I was 15. But one of the things i cant stress enough about re is the ammo. ammo plays a big role in this game. Like someone else already said on this thread, re4 had too much ammo and the more plagas you killed the more ammo you got. RE is a game where you shouldnt be able to kill all enemies, they should give you insufficient ammo and let you run away from zombies, THAT is survival horror.

there is no resident evil 4

resident evil 3 was the last resident evil any thing else that has come out is a different game with the same name.

till they bring back the limited ammo the horrible camera angles (thats where lots of the screams came from) it will not be a true resident evil

it will just be another generic shooter that the kiddos will love so much

Operation Rocket Raccoon City looks like trash. Idc wtf they call it tis an action gow like zombie shooter featuring characters from re2. GTFO!!! Last god re game was code veronica x and still tht game was meh b/c it took a step backwards from RE3 Nemesis. How the hell u gonna bring back shittier controls and pressing x to climb stairs not only tht but re1 quality va's.

RE died a while ago. Re4 was good but it wasn't an re game it was it own shit. Every other RE is trash!

i love how everyone claims its not resident evil after re3 or code veronica. its still resident evil, whether you like it or not. its just resident evil catering to the action fans and not the survival horror fans.

i think resident evil 4 is one of the greatest games of all time, not necessarily a great resi game, but a great game nonetheless, you can tell they still at least tried to keep it scary, at least at the start anyway, but then 5 comes along and just throws all essence of horror out the window :(

resident evil WAS all about survival horror. but, capcoms number one goal is making money(im not mad at that). so unless survival horror all of a sudden becomes more popular than action, i dont see resident evil going back to survival horror.

I was hoping capcom would revert to survival horror with the RE series but after seeing the operation: raccoon city trailer....

And that's whats killing the gaming industry. CoD sold moderately well and all of a sudden everyone wants that kind of market. You either get brown n' bloom shooters or RPGs that are really just glorified movies.

If anyone wants a pretty good Survival Horror game, either check out Amnesia: The Dark Descent or the Penumbra Series. They are fantastic games.

I hear such good things about amnesia.

Cod can suck my dick! i hate tht game series so much. COD is a shooter whom the people who play it don't desire anything in games that are stagnant and want everything handed to them on a silver platter. It also has to be "REALISTIC" which isn't possible for games b/c video games are surreal in the first place.

what ever happened to games we would play to escape realism. Like Splatterhouse, Metroid, Castlevania, Zelda, etc. Now people want realism out of no where! Soon were gonna be going to the dmv and waiting on line in GT games and well be filling out registration forms or army shooters.
