Who do you think has the most balanced variations?

Not much design went into Reptile's variations as he was meant to be a character with the most semblance between all three. Even so, I hardly ever see people go Deceptive online even though I know people consider it better than Noxious. Chris G uses Deceptive but he's also the guy going Ancestral instead of Bojutsu.

Gotta go with Jax here. All three quality variations with different playstyles and options.

Only character I can think of where all 3 variations are both equally good and equally Top quality. Jax main's never have to switch characters for a MU lol.

Jax, Kano, Scorpion for character who have three really solid & good variations. Reptile, Sonya, Cassie, Lui Kang, Ferrah/Torr for two really good ones & one that is okay/slightly worse.
I can't disagree with this.

I disagree with sub-zero. I feel grandmaster easily outshines cryo and unbreakable. Aside from characters that abuse clone glitch (which will inevitably be patched), it's hard to argue a reason to use the others except in specific counter matchups and style.

Cryo offers little neutral options beyond b2, leaving the only real benefit being the standing reset, overhead EX~hammer, and damage...but grandmaster does more damage in corner, has a much stronger reset situation, and EX~hammer just doesn't feel stronger than popping a clone and mixing up behind it. Grandmaster also is a superior zoner.

Unbreakable is a decent counter pick for hard rush down types that won't let you set up clones. It is also decent for characters that can play around clones with certain movement options like certain teleports. It however does very little damage and a bad read will get you wrecked.

I'd say Kano's variations are well rounded compared to others, but none excel at their archetype.

They're all good, but his lack of a forward travelling overhead and overhead/low strings make Cutthroat a less potent mixup character and his single projectile, although great, only gives Cybernetic one attack vector, where as other zoners get low/high/air and sometimes angled (up laser doesn't count). Commando is the only character that really shines as a grappler, but even then an overhead wouldn't be much to ask for as Lackey Torr gets one, as does Brawler Cassie and (I think) Wrestler Jax.

It appears that, although he is more balanced than other characters (Ermac and Quan Chi remain zoners, Kenshi has two very similar variations, Mileena is all about offence), as a trade off he doesn't excel at anything. That said, he doesn't suck either. I suppose the real benefit of having three balanced variations is that you don't see learning the others as a waste of time, unlike say a Kotal or Kung Lao player, where one variation dwarfs others.

I disagree with almost everything in this post. Especially with quan ermac and mileena.

This mean you don't like me?
Erron Black.

While Gunslinger is easily not as powerful as his other two variations and thus seems like a contradictory answer, if both variations were the only ones in the game, we'd never see Erron Black with the badass hat.

I realized that rhymed. And that 'hat' is also the last word in the rhyming children's book, 'The Cat in the Hat.'

Hm......

Does that mean....

Erron Black in the Hat confirmed?

I do not like them in a bowl

I do not like my Dr. Shoals

Scorp, Jax and Kano are given. Cassie, Sonya and JC are up there as well. Kung Lao and Raiden have the potential as well. Shinook is about as bad in every variation.
