hauppauge hd dvr is a pass through device. you plug in your xbox/ps3 to the device and then an extra set of component cables go out into your tv. The device splits the picture/sound via usb and sends them to your pc as well.
You use a program like xsplit to take the picture generated on your pc and pull it into the program.
You set your your twitch.tv account within xsplit and set xsplit to broadcast to your twitch.tv site.
I stream from a laptop because I cant imagine hauling around my pc if I needed to stream an event. Or like you mentioned running long cables all over my house.
Is there software that can remove or decrypt the HDMI encryption? I have HDMI capture card (AverMedia) set up through HDMI splitter. But it can't record/stream because of the encryption.
