poll: most improved personality

Let's have some fun and just talk about the lore for a sec, which vet from MK9 do you guys think has the best personality rework? Half of the reason I think any of us play these games is for the characters and their story.

I say Mileena, half of the reason I main her now is because I liked her so damn much in the story mode- and I HATED her in MK9. She's gone from being "Ooh, so sexy but don't mind my teeth" or whatever whack gimmick that was to a strong villain, motivated to get her job done.

Oh and she's an ally of Rain which makes her double awesome.

I know some of the characters on the poll haven't changed much, but for consistency's sake I listed them all.

Sonya's more of an asshole this time around, and scorpion is more of a nice guy? I guess?

This is actually difficult.

"I'm too old for this shit" grizzled badass, went home and became a family man, is so out of fucks to give he bitchslaps demonic fireballs and uppercuts warlocks, Jax is super cool.

LORD OF HELL Liu Kang is super cool, added onto the turned to 11 arrogant and rightfully cocky asshole personality that they started in 9 and ran with here. He's just mean, I really like that. His in fight mannerisms and animations show that he really packed in a lot of Bruce Lee this time around.

Syzoth's hilariously, cartoonishly violent outlook on life is one of the funniest things in this game. Reptile can't just say "i'll kill you for that", it's "i'll sssstrip your flessh from your bonesss and boil them in my vomit" with this guy. Also his scene during the flashback in Story Mode really spoke volumes for his intelligence, he isn't a genius or anything but still. "you claim to the throne is moot". Considering that he barely even talked in previous games, and didn't actually speak a word in 9, he gets a lot of props from me here.

Overly dramatic (alive) Kung Lao is definitely a good one too, tough as nails HBIC Sonya is better than whatever she used to be,

I'll kinda give you Scorpion even though he killed several soldiers and doomed the fallen earthrealm defenders turned revenants, but Sonya always has and always will be a raging bitch. Lol

Aside from Mileena, I'm a huge fan of Johnny Cage who i feel is cooler and less of a douche; as well as Liu Kang who holy shit I hope he's evil forever, I don't wanna see him a hero ever again.

Kano has reached his peak for me. His appearance, quotes, moves (right amount of headbutts). Baraka element in the elbow moves, Kratos animation in EX choke (commando). In contrast to mk9: better performance in story mode and ending

Also Kenshi. Animations & martial arts wise he is a beast. Every time I see him in select screen I'm considering hitting the lab. Then I remind myself I don't like good guys in the end and tend to drop them

But Liu Kang... it's the only game I've actually seen his commands. Seriously

Edit: what's up with his X-ray. Why did they make it so cool?

Johnny Cage went from douche-funny to dad-funny, and it was a graceful transition.


Mileena I agree with you on, despite the way Kotal paints it her plan did have it's pros. I can see why she'd want to make Outworld strong independently instead of going to Earthrealm to beg for help. We actually don't see how the Outworld civilians felt about her, and are going solely on the words of the usurping generals. I also liked how cunning and surprisingly organized she was with her rebellion, she stayed underground for years and was actually legitimately hurting Kotal's forces, she had a good line-up of loyalists too.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if come MK11 they say "Surprise, that wasn't Mileena, she had a fleshpits decoy" or some shit.

Kitana I feel changed the most from MK9 to MKX. She went from boring, bland princess to smug, arrogant and cocky, but regal. Making her and Liu a revenant was the best thing NRS ever done for their character (besides zombie Liu), I hope they return back to their good human forms but still keep their new attitudes.

I do like that they made her just as much of a smug asshole as Liu, so they can be smug asshole king and queen ruling over their smug asshole kingdom of demons and the damned, but she still doesn't seem that appealing to me. She's better than she ever was before, I can't take that away from her, though.

Also Zombie Liu Kang > Every other Liu Kang.

Quan chi was a bit underwhelming in story as well but only because I expected much more with him.

I'd pick both Scorpion and Sub-Zero if it were possible to vote for multiple. Their interaction was heart-warming, if lackluster. I was seriously hoping to see something different this time around. A story mode for each group, released in a form of expansion packs or somesuch. Actual cinematic endings at the end of the towers. More story content, less test your grandma.
Oh, and I don't like how Kitana stayed an arrogant cunt despite all she's been through. I'd have hoped she'd become more of a noble soul and less of a spoiled bitch but meh. She's dropped tier anyway.

I always envisioned ermac being really bipolar. Some days he helps old ladies cross the street, and some days he wants genocide. Being that he is made out of a million souls.

Gonna have to go with Ermac on this one. My favorite cut scene in story mode is when Ermac says something along the lines of, "Our creator is dead. We serve who We choose." The idea of Ermac as a being of free will does a lot to expand his already awesome lore. Still waiting on that ethereal King Jerrod skin.......

Sub is going through quite a character development, from a rookie ninja filling his brother shoes, into the wise grandmaster.
heck he even offered scorpion a truce by making him tea, ending a 20 years of rivalry.

Scorpion becoming more calm in a sense and able to hold a conversation without yelling which is a plus.

Sadly there's not much of a development for other character, especially the revenant, which is a wasted opportunity.

And it's kind of hard to say that Ermac is powerful when he was a jobber in 9 and X continued the tradition.

He didn't make any character improvements though, this is exactly what he did in the old timeline.

that's true, he become a grandmaster in the old timeline, but in this iteration the personality is shown better through dialogue and interaction with others, especially the one with scorpion
