What's new

using controller

hi all!

im quite new to the game. I just recently bought a controller (http://www.media-tech.eu/products/game-controllers/MT1507) for my laptop. Im sure its not a too good controller for this game, but i will live with it for a while, it was cheap. I have never used a controller before.

My questions are:

If i aim to become a very good player:

1) should i get used to using the joysticks or should i get used to the buttons? Joystick for the moves and buttons 1 to 4? or both joysticks, one joystick for the moves and the other for the kicks and punches?

2) what kind of controller should i buy next?

thanks

Use buttons for both.

As for controllers you have 3 options:

1. Pad: Key thing here is if the dpad is any good. That comes down to preference.

2. Arcade stick: Pretty standard.

3. Hitbox: It is a stickless arcade stick that feels like you are playing with a keyboard.

thanks!

i have read, and believed, that a stick is quicker for a series of hits, since one can only use his thumb. It sure seems to me, that a quick and small back-and-forth-and-back move of the stick is quicker than pushing button4 with my thumb then pushing button2 with my thumb then pushing button4 again with my thumb.

You wanna use the Dpad and the 4 face buttons. I don't think you can even map the right stick to the 1,2,3,4 face buttons. The analog sticks on controllers are a bit iffy, If you're set on using a stick though get an arcade stick with more room/bigger face buttons and a good joystick.

When I said use buttons for both, I was implying the Dpad for directions and the action buttons for attacks. Dont use the analog sticks, they are not very accurate.
