Let's talk: MKX on PC

Immortal

Blind justice....
@tylerlansdown Shouldn't we be hearing from the community specialist at this point?

This port has serious issues and NRS and everyone involved seem dead silent since the 14th. A lot of the PC fans who bought MKX also supported the PC versions of MK9 and Injustice - I'm sure no one appreciates what's happening here. Borderline unplayable, since who wants to play a fighter at less than 60 fps :(
NRS has very little to do with PC version, its mostly up to HVS or like somebody already pointed out - it's up to WB to pay HVS for patches / fixes. Time will tell if we see any.

I just hope it wont be like with IGAU and MK9 on PC. The first one was just left out and second got patch like a year after premiere probably because HVS got the MK X port contract (lol).

The way I see it is that NRS paid HVS to represent them...therefore it is still NRS's fault.

Not really, try HVS support like many players already did. They will tell you without any problems that they do what WB pays them to do. Someone even got a response that "We were payed to port MK X to PC and do nothing more".

Ok so uhhhhhhhh, scratch NRS and replace it with WB...

Yeah, basically NetherRealm Studios developed the core game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and High Voltage Software was contracted to bring it to PC, and soon to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment is the publisher for all versions, and the company officially handling support. They're also the parent company of NetherRealm Studios and the contractor of High Voltage Software.

If you've done a complete clean install, confirmed your drivers and such are up-to-date, and are still having issues with the game, specifically game-breaking ones, your best option is to contact WBGames Support and open a ticket. The contact info is on the last Steam announcement I saw for the game on April 14th.

Since the PC version has been launched on launch day with the current generation console versions, I do expect we'll see patches and such, likely at similar times the console versions get them. Of course, this will all be up to Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment.

The resolution is available in the windows settings, it's also available in the other games I play including MK9 and Injustice.

I'll just reinstall the game and hope for the best.
Good luck man. Report back here when you do and let us know if it works.

Another thing I did, but this shouldn't be necessary, is I completely formatted my PC just over a week before launch. I format my system each year though to clear anything up, and that happens to be in April so the timing was a coincidence.

By association though, I know my system is clean and not experiencing any issues or driver conflicts.

I would say that having good graphic card is crucial.
This is what "Recommended System Requirements" for PC version on amazon:
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.4 GHz | AMD FX-8350, 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB RAM
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 | AMD Radeon HD 7950
Mine is GTX 560 TI (Superclocked) and i am straggling.
But my point is: it is NOT a freaking flight simulator demanding all resources that you can have.
Why why why it is so demanding ?!
Those computers are about $2,000 each and barely can handle the game
and consoles are $400-500 and handle the game like piece of cake.

If you say there is nothing to do with optimization then IMHO I will call a bullshit on that.

You've listed the recommended requirements above. If your system matches or exceeds those specifications, then you should have no issues running the game outside of bugs or errors native to the game.

The minimum requirements according to Steam itself are as follows:

  • Minimum:
    • OS: 64-bit: Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win 10
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
    • Memory: 3 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 | AMD Radeon HD 5850
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Network: Broadband Internet connection
    • Hard Drive: 36 GB available space
So if you have these specs or better you'll be able to play the game, but will likely have reduced visuals and might even have frame rate issues and the like. Minimum specs have always meant that, the minimum the game needs to run; it may not run well.

If your system is below the minimum, or any component in your system is below the minimum, you might not be able to play the game at all and you purchase at your own risk.

This has always been the nature of PC gaming.

Also keep in mind developing for a PC and developing for a console is different. A console is a standardized platform, PC's are not and have many, many different variables ranging from different OS's, to manufacturers of CPUs, GPUs, Ram, etc. There's significantly more variables to developing for a PC, and the game was not natively developed for PC's, but was likely ported since the core game is on current generation consoles.

All of NetherRealm Studios games were core developed on consoles, not PCs.

Man, I agree with every word you said.
I guess I just didn't expect that my spec, which handles every other game will fail me on MK X.

shaowebb

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
From what I'm seeing people post here and elsewhere, I'm confident that ATi/AMD video cards have much more significant frame rate issues with the game.

What's your processor, are you running the latest version of DirectX, and do you have the latest video drivers for your ATi card?
Got direct x 11, have the latest drivers for my card.

Processor is AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8 Ghz

LOL I have just about the same old PC (I7-2600K, GTX 560 TI, 16GB Ram). I haven't installed yet as I got the game for XB1 and was waiting for the pre-install mess to sort itself out first. I will install this weekend though and post in the thread how it runs.

When I look at PS4 and Xbox streams, my PC version looks way way better.
Drop the settings to make it look like console version and you will have better FPS.

Guys ...

If you're experiencing issues, there is a mega-thread for bug/issue compilation (located in Tech Talk btw) of the issues described in all 38 pages of the thread. If we can get these in one place specifically, it'll be easier to get NRS and HVS to fix this shit.

They may have very little to do with development, but this is still NRS' franchise and the overall product quality should still be their responsibility. If WB is the one directly hiring for the contracting out of the port, NRS should still be involved in the talks, quality checks, overall oversight of the finished product. It still has NRS' name on the product and it's not like this is HVS' game.

The way I see it, NRS should still be able to drive change. They have the inside knowledge, the connections, the franchise and the leverage. I don't expect we'll ever get anywhere sending messages to WB support or HVS' twitter. It seems futile :(

i bet it's not gonna run on max settings, because this spec is like mine for 99 %

Just take a PC version and see credits for it. HVS done QA in house for PC, nobody from NRS did that. Boon even in interviews stated several times already that they gave full game to HVS and they should worry about porting (PC, X360, PS3). NRS is only PS4/X1 focused.

And even beside that - WB is making all the critical decisions for obvious reasons - they're paying for all of this. So with PC specific problems - NRS has nothing to do with those, its all HVS. Core game problems on all platforms (like shitty netcode) however are on NRS obviously.

I'm just curious...has anyone ever said to you that they would see you tomorrow and you called them at 12:00 AM and asked them if they could see you?

So I can't do EX moves during combos...(?) Is anybody else having this problem on PC?

You definitely can.
It could be specific special move for specific character, so it is not intended to be in kombo. So better ask this question in Kotal Kahn subforum.

I know what you mean guy. It's a shame not just this game, but so many others, have launch difficulties all the time now.
