Wake up help!

Hello,

I read through Tom Brady's System Guide and it was very helpful. I had some questions regarding the WAKE UP portion.

I know that you no longer have invincibility on wake up attacks which is fine, but im getting my butt wooped but button masher who stand next to me mashing random attacks. I tried throwing which is beaten by pokes or uppercuts, special moves which most have slow startups (Kenshi) so I get poked, jupming which gets poked...... its getting frustrating.

I know I can EX my way out but after a couple of these, I have no meter....

Can you guys lend some advice on the best way to get out of this situation?

Many thanks!

You're just going to have to block sometimes. You can't wake up if you don't have meter unfortunately. Try tech-rolling when you get knocked down. You can always try a delayed wake up as well.

or...just don't get knocked down.

Yeah I'm having a huge problem with this too. It seems like there's only a few characters that have a good wake-up move, like Johnny's flip kick. Most other characters seem to be SOL.

Best thing to do is roll backwards, or try not to get knocked down. Focus on learning your opponents strings, and be more precise with your blocking To prevent knockdowns. As kenshi, I usually wake up sword spin (kenjustsu). or press D1.

I hope this helps.

I use to main johnny cage in mk9. And in mkx, Johnny's flipkick is the worst. It has no armor, it's range is pathetic, and it's super unsafe and punishable if blocked. So... that's a bad idea.

Thanks will try. The thing with the opponents strings is that it's so random coz these dudes literally just mash, they don't do actual combo string, so it's really hard to read.

No I feel you there. It's hard to read people right now because they're frantically pressing buttons and things are coming out at random. I find it a lot easier to play someone who knows what they're doing. The game also came out two days ago, so we are all fresh

This is specifically when I get knocked down and they are right there next to me mashing buttons so i get hit if I try to start poking while getting up.

Funny enough I cheesed him out one fight by throwing random attacks through the fight too.... but that's not how I want to win. I want to pull off combos I spent a long time practicing.

I may be wrong but I thought that I saw that it has a relatively low number of start-up frames. That's pretty valuable in this game if you're getting pressured hard. Like I said though I may be thinking of a different move.
