Change of move inputs from mk9 + no instant air projectiles

Hello,

I've been coming here as a reader for a long time, but never really posted here. I hope you guys can answer a couple of questions for me.

I was wondering what the logic behind changing the special moves inputs from previous games. ie, Sub zero's freeze being df2 now where before it was df2. Mileena's tele kick being dd3 now instead of ff4 from mk9. I don't get why they have to change this when we ALL have get used to the inputs. Is it to give everyone a even playing field by having to relearn everything again?

Also, I want to know why they moved instant air projectiles like the instant air sais. You now have to jump, then bf1 where as in mk9 you can do u+b f1.

Any info on this would be great. Thanks!

You can still instant air fine you just can't do it the way you did before. I can still get Mileena air sai 1 inch off the ground just gotta be faster. As for input changes since you can't dash cancel anymore that is why stuff like TP kick for Mileena has changed, because under the new system you hit f,f and then nothing happens.

I think the reason they changed the instant air fireballs is because of how potentially game breaking they can be. But yes you can still do them, you just can't do them repeatedly, as easily, or as fast.

And I doubt anyone knows for sure why NRS changed the inputs for certain moves, but it probably had a lot to do with all the system changes there are. Like Evil Canadian said, you can cancel dashes anymore, so doing special moves out of FF or BB moves would go against the new system change. Them changing things like Sub's iceball...idk. It could be something like they had a theme going for the character and all his inputs, thus they wanted to keep it in like with other moves.

That actually make sense for the double tap style move. I haven't thought of that and it was driving me nuts. The changes to some other moves makes zero sense though. I wonder why the Cages nut punch is assigned to a kick button.
