struggling with 3 button special moves

always had this problem... had it in injustice too...whenever there is a grappling type special move I cannot for the life of me land it on THE END of combos... if we are just stood still I can do it fine but specially at the end of strings

this time it's goro...I cannot land his down back forward X at all after a combo... I've hit it like once every 20 or 30 attempts

I was wondering if anyone has any tips to start landing this more consistently...if I just do that move straight off the bat I hit it 100% of the time

I've tried individually pressing the buttons...I've tried pressing and doing half circles etc... just can't get it right

was the same with shazam and lobo on injustice, just gave up lol

The only way I can land stuff like punch walk, F3, grab is to do a complete 360 motion. For some reason, when I try to do the motion correctly, the game tells me that I did not input the "back" portion, even though it's obvious that I did.

If I do F3 360 motion + 3 it works every time.

so are you "drawing" a full circle or a half circle...e.g staring on down, moving to back then moving forward then pressing x?

or starting on down, going to back, to up then to forward then X?

turn off release check in the controller options.
isn't that the default

Release check is negative edge, no? I think Alternate Controls option is where that's at.
why does it give the option to change if its a negative edge?

What I did with dbf+attack was I split it in 2 portions and pressed db (or quarter circle back), then forward+attack. Same with combos, only you do db when the character is still doing the previous attack and then time the f+attack at the end of the previous attack. Basically you're buffering only the db portion. Same with dfb+attack if there is one.

what is the difference between on and off?
I think tooltip should say that.

Release check - aka negative edge, this allows button releases to count as button presses sometimes. Example: with it you can input 3~db3 as [press 3]~d,b+[release 3] instead of tapping 3 twice during this sequence as normal.

Alternate controls adds check of diagonal inputs inbetween f, d, b (db becomes "honest" quarter circle back aka d, d+b, b for example, and bf becomes half-circle forward motion).

Shortcut enables keeping directional inputs in buffer for its full duration instead of deleting them as soon as they are recognized as a part of some move, allowing it to be used by motion recognition later for additional move. With this you will be able to input d1~df2 as d1~f2 saving you one motion. Without it you won't accidentally input b21~bf2 because you input b21f2 way too fast, for example.

Take your pick.

If you have trouble with directional inputs, Alternative control is worth a try unless you use keyboard or hitbox.
