Regarding platform choice,

In order to unify our ONLINE players and audience for the first season of a brand new league it was decided we would choose one console platform for NA/EU.

ESL, Warner Bros., and NetherRealm spent a great deal of time researching and deliberating what would be best for an ONLINE league, culminating in a live finals. After months of meetings it was decided to go with the Xbox One for NA/EU for a variety of reasons, including:
The track record of support from Xbox for competitive leagues.
The robust performance of Xbox Live.
The ESL App on the Xbox One.

Was it an easy decision to make? No. The casualty of the console war is a split audience and player base. We knew that any selection we made wouldn't please everyone.

Do I feel we made the best choice for an ONLINE league. Yes.

In regards to questions about 'Will we have PS4 and PC (outside of CIS/Russia) as options in the future?' Let's make it through Season 1 first.

The Sub-Zero Blue Steel Skin will be available across all platforms. Those purchases support the entire Mortal Kombat X Competitive Scene, no matter the platform ;)
Thank you

I wasn't expecting such a detailed response, wow.

The Xbox did dominate the competitive environment in the previous generation so I see why it was unforeseeable to know the PS4 would take over.

Overall, just that answer alone really does demonstrate that you really are looking out for us. I seriously can't wait for the future of Mkx+ESL. Still though, I do wish a season 2 or 3 would be ps4 lol

What if both your opponent are 10 minutes late? So one of you starts late, and the other will not be able to play their match in time? These are questions I will go over with our league ops team. We have to foresee every probable scenario.
This was the main issue I saw with having siblings using the same console which is why I brought it up. Thanks for taking it into consideration!

I am excited to watch the Fatal8 and other ESL stream. Major props for including Godspeed and Compton in the trailer!

Question time:

I saw in the rules page that the offline finals still has 2 spots TBD after the smoke settles from the online play and mid season tournament.

Any chance of these TBD spots for the offline championship being given out for some offline-only merit? (Winning an ESL sanctioned open bracket offline-only tournament, etc)

This response alone needs to be front page news on TYM. Well articulated and reasoned. Thank you for taking the time to be candid and direct with this community.

Kitana Prime

Top-tier at everything but the characters I choose
Well, the PS4 for EVO is just a "quality of the console issue" ,but now it´s just a "money issue".... I think it´s ALL about the money
Nah. Definitely a money issue. Capcom Pro Tour + SFV exclusive to ps4 + SF4 PS4 port incoming...

$

And EVO abides. The same way EVO was promoted as "EVO on Xbox" last year.

EVO is all $.

Period.

Those two spots should read TBA. There is already a plan in place for those spots :)

Why isn't South America included in the tournaments? Is it because of the bad internet connection?
My heart goes out to South America. NetherRealm and ESL know how much they have supported Mortal Kombat and Injustice in the past. NetherRealm have their own plans regarding grassroots tournaments around the world :)

The ping between SA and NA would not be a fun experience for players, which is why we limited NA to Canada, USA, and Mexico.

I hope to see an online region for South America in the future, but that decision will be made dependent upon the success of Season 1 and other factors.

@Clutch8 I am not sure if the information I read or heard was correct but I saw in a video that Ed Boon mentioned that players could have titles in their player card with each title giving you a minor benefit whether it be to do more damage or take less damage, etc. If this is true would that be banned since it is giving a player an edge over their opponent?

No the buffs are only for XP, Boon clarified on Twitter

If you are a fan you are allowed to take all the pictures and video you want of the official competition and faction draft. If you are representing a press outfit we will be hosting a media day on Thursday.

Hey everyone,

We here at ESL America are very excited for the upcoming FATAL 8 tournament this weekend, along with the entire ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League.

I have been working on this project since it's inception about 7 months ago. Feel free to ask any question. I will answer most of them to the best of my ability.
I see you guys putting focus on EU and saying North America as well. Any plans for Canadian events?
