What's new

Let's talk: MKX on PC

I had already pre-ordered it on Steam. It is sad for a SEA gamer like me :( The majority of SEA gamers who plays MK is low, especially on PC.

PC gamer here but I'm getting MKX on consoles. It's just the nature of the beast, PC gamers tend to play everything BUT fighters on pc, everyone associates them with consoles and thats where the playersbase is.
That doesn't make any sense. There's a lot of people in this thread picking it up and there's definitely people who intend to play PC primarily or exclusively in MKX. It's a new generation; there's no need to follow old rules.

The smart stuff!
This is the time when things might change for PC MK community. Hopefully for the better with MK X. Nothing stays still. Nothing ever should.

I'm just glad that there will be some people to play day 1.I'm sure everyone will be playing the story mode first but after that and some training in the dojo I'll be hitting online.

I'm getting it on PC. Better performance, better graphics, free online, I can use my stick or my controller, and I can get it for $40.

I agree, PC is the way to go.

Guys just a heads up for MKX for those of you who have both desktops and laptops at home.

I just tried out MK9 through Steam's In-Home Streaming feature and I have to say that I was really impressed with how low the latency stayed (typically 1.25ms or so).

I have a beefed up Windows 7 desktop that I built for gaming, but I use my MacBook Air around the house for working and internetting, and I was able to play MK9 on my Mac (I was doing a KOTH lol which was hella laggy but still better than I've played on PSN). Steam even provides native DualShock3 support through Big Picture Mode.

While I'll definitely be using the PC for online play, I can see myself using in-home streaming for doing things like story mode and playing the AI.

Just look at the dedicated MK X Steam groups also there was a poll on TYM and PC was a quite popular choice. So yea, PC MK X community gonna be big.

MKX is gonna be huge and possibly break records. With ps3 and xbox360 versions being delayed, there are a lot of people out there who don't want to be forced to buy a new console just to play mkx when it's released. A lot of those people probably already have PC that could run MKX.
Even if they don't i assume they would rather buy a new PC than a console for almost the same price.
I planned to play on PC since I saw it was available on launch. I am very excited to see how many people are playing on PC compared to previous fighting games. I think it will be a lot more than expected.

im gonna be gaming on PC since new consoles suck (pay to play online?GTFO!!), but im not gonna be on Day One because i dont trust the netcode for ports like this one. yeah, they all run on x86 so development is pretty good, but if the lag is BS, doesnt matter how good it is.

Considering MK9 had 5,178 players playing at its highest point, and averages 425 daily. Numbers dont lie. Ill stick to console for now and see what comes of the pc community after the "newness" wares off.

i think 5178 players is a good number for a game that was released 2 or so years after the first version.
Edit: not to mention in the middle of injustice hype and release.

2 years after console release bro. I would argue that at that point there was more PC MK9 players then on consoles. Lets talk numbers when MK X is released coz im pretty sure that with the same release date for PC as consoles that number gonna be waaaay higher.

Gotta compare apples to apples. PC gaming is at its highest point of all time, and projected to continue growing faster than all console sales combined. Simultaneous release means there will be a lot of MKX PC players.

There will still be much (much) less pc players than console players. To this day you'll find about 200 people online at the same time in mk9 on the ps3. You won't find 50 players simultaneously online on the PC. Which sucks, because the PC is the best version of the game.

Thing is: people think building a PC is more expensive and troublesome than buying a shitty pile of outdated hardware that is a ps4 and an xbone. That grinds my gears.

Don't know what MK9 on PC you're playing but even yesterday at like 6pm there was over 100 online total in rooms on MK9 PC version. And i don't remember when was the last time i saw on PS3 200 online players in MK9. Not recently thats for sure.

But anyway it doesn't really matter, even if PC version wont match PS4 in terms of quantity of online players it's gonna be way closer then it was with the last gen. Im pretty sure that if we separate PS4 players from X1 players then PC gonna be second in total MK X players, above X1.

And lets not forget something im pretty sure we all agree on. PC version is gonna be the best looking, fastest loading etc.. Overall the best version.

If that's the case then I'll be the happiest PC player ever. Let's hope you are right!

We don't know that. It's being made by the same people as the 360/ps3. DOA5 Is much worse than the PS4 version.
That's simply not true.

PC version is missing soft engine (a bit better looking boobs) and some particle effects BUT it supports 4K resolution and 4xSSAA. Now go and tell me that
PS4 version at 1080p (without SSAA) looks better then PC at 4K lmao with 4xSSAA. :)

And yes Tecmo made a lazy port (no button configuration, no 1440p etc), nothing new. They even announced another Dead or Alive 5 version of the game lol.

And that's beside the point, MK X is ported by HSV which made MK9 port which was the best looking version by faaaaaaaaar. Same story with Injustice. Higher resolution, anti-aliasing etc..

So yea it seems pretty obvious that MK X PC version gonna be the best looking one. Again.

And it's funny that so many people still think so, because it's much more cost efficient to game on PC than console now (rant ahead).

Your average console is $400, and then you have to buy new controllers/converters, so add between one and several hundred dollars on top of that depending on your controller needs. Then the internet service subscription is $50+ a year, which adds around $400 more across the life of the console. Meanwhile, DLC packs and digital content are rarely discounted, and you're paying close to full price for each new game that you buy as well (~$60 a game). This adds up to a LOT across the life of a console.

Meanwhile, you can build a very good quality PC from scratch for $800 or less, and the hardware will be leaps and bounds better than the best console. No extra subscription fees, no need to ever buy new controllers. But then, games and DLC packs are dirt cheap because of steam sales and websites like GMG that offer massive discounts that can be applied to even the newest games/DLC. Meanwhile, when you do decide to upgrade hardware, you can recoup the majority of your costs by buying/selling at the right time. It's ridiculous how much you save on PC if you are even remotely consumer savvy.
