Tourneys in Northeast?

As a resident of beantown, I'm curious what the landscape is for MK tournaments in New England or the northeast generally. Do I have to hop in a jet?

Bean town is a less desirable area to travel to, because unless youre in there, its not close to any other region. The main events that new england has to offer are the "guts" tournaments (game underground tournament series). I love bean town, and any excuse to head there to revisit old places that I fell in love with I will find and trick myself into going with. Def check out game underground's website. They'll probably start doing a month mkx tournaemnt when that game comes out.

nice, thanks for the tip on game underground - just looked it up. It's in Framingham about 20 min west of Boston. I suppose I could also turn my apt. into a casual spot for some matches if any of you are passing through and need a fatality fix :D

Hey man theres actually going to be a local scene in boston for mkx at a place called game underground once it comes out
Is this the one in Framingham? I work in Waltham and I've been looking for a place nearby so if it IS this location you just made me VERY happy. Any other info you can provide? Any casual days? Are the tournaments usually like Fri/Sat nights? Im on the website now, but I can't get on to facebook while at work.

It is the one in Framingham, right on Route 9. At the end of April they're moving to the natick mall, which I believe is ten minutes down the street. Nice and easy from Waltham.

The schedule there has been Tues: smash at night, Fri: fighting game night, small USF4 and other tournaments depending on interest, One Saturday afternoon a month is tournaments.

Yeah the food is certainly good. I just want to say I love your avatar. My birthday was on the superbowl and I was getting that pic sent to me all day! haha
Yeah Bill is my boy. I was watching the game at Tavern in the Square in Allston. Never in my life have I switched that abruptly from utter despair (Kearse catch) to utter joy (Butler). If you also like the Pats and MK, that's like 80% of my interests right there lol

Thanks so MUCH! This was super helpful! I hope to see you there some time!

Yeah Game Underground might be our best bet for getting everyone together. We usually had pretty good turnouts there.

In CT we used to have Gaming ETC in Stratford but they seemed to stop doing fighting game tournaments. It was nice because a lot of times top players from NY would come to the tournaments (CD jr, Sanford, etc.)

There were also tournaments for Injustice being run in RI by @LordXav1er - not sure if any MKX events will come around.

Edit: Actually now that I remember I think some guys from NY came up to GU one time. It'd be awesome if we can get more people from the NY scene to come up.

I've got a friend in Boston trying to find some competition and a place to play. He's willing to drive almsot anywhere in Masschusetts.
How well did this Gaming Underground thing go? Are they still doing gatherings and are any of you guys still playing? That's actually right next to where this friend of mine, noonches, works.
He plays Bone Shaper and Sun God, Spring break. He's a good talker, side better, and player. He values your words here, and on here. https://www.facebook.com/luke.ehrlichman

Its going ok, NRS has been on life support in new england since MK9.

GU still does monthly tournaments, and some of us go on friday nights to practice.

That's great to hear, life support is the standard for most scenes, mine included, so this is great news.
