First i want to start off by saying that i was always an online player. Everybody knew me as FOREVER KING, the guy that only played online. Many people said I have some potential and have beaten alot of good players online, but everyone wanted to know how well I would do OFFLINE, and I really wanted to know too. But I never thought I would have the chance to with school and everything, so I just stuck to online. I wanna thank Macewind because he drove a couple hours and picked me up to take me to the Console Combat tournament, my very first offline tournament that I have ever participated for any game. So none of this would have happened without you bro thank you so much I had a great time!
When we got there it was awesome, the place was crowded and there were tons of gamers everywhere playing all types of fighting games like MVC3, Blazblue, Street Fighter AE, and my game Mortal Kombat. Everybody had arcade sticks but i can't use none of that shit, so Mace got me regular xbox pad and i was on my way to start casuals. Online to Offline is a big difference, it was really hard for me to get use to it at first. I was getting pretty aggravated with input delay on the HD tv or whatever it was, it just felt really weird to me because I was so use to playing online or at home on my tv. I had to go through all my characters alot of times, I couldnt even use my main Kung Lao the way I wanted to for some reason on the tv input delay so I just used Raiden and Johnny Cage majority of the day. But nonetheless I managed, and played many great players. I got games in with Chris Friday, M2Dave, Master D, and many other good players. Also finally after playing him online so much, that weekend I got to play my friend Perfect Legend offline, and we had a really good series. GGs to everyone I played that day!
After casuals Mace signed me up for the tournament, and I did alot better than I had expected. I beat everyone I played that day but ended up losing to M2Dave in the Grand Finals, putting me in 2nd place for the tourney! I never played a high-level scarlet before, so once he pulled that bitch out on me I didnt really know what to do haha. But still a pretty nice turnout for me in my opinion. Playing offline was so much better than playing online, the community was pretty cool and I was nervous before every single match, but I had alot of fun. I wish I had alot more opportunities to play offline than what I've had, but being only 17 its pretty hard for me to make out to much. But I will most likely be making it out to the next Console Combat, and hopefully make some type of debut at my first major tournament Seasons Beatings. Im gonna need much offline practice though, still gotta shake off some of these online jitters. And get used to those gay-ass lag input TVs.
So yea wish me good luck in the future, Im going to try to make it to as many offline events as I can. It was an amazing experience.
