What's new

picking a new main

im mainly a smoke/j. cage guy and would love to hear some input on who would be a good character to main with next. im looking for a character that can zone first but can rushdown a bit(not named kung lao or raiden). any advice would be much appreciated.

:D.

Remember: nothing says "I love you" like catching your foe in a glowing green net and exploding him into the fucking sky.

sounds like you should pick kabal.

best mix ups in the game. great wake up game. gdlk zoning.

tough to learn (im speaking relatively, its mk9 were talkin about lol) but pays off once you get his dash cancels memorized.

Killphil

A prop on the stage of life.
Ermac. Strings are slower, but can combo into specials tks and tkp. Can keep people out with Tkp(just don't abuse it or be ready to take a beating). He has a hop attack that stuffs lows (i.e. wakeup slides, reptile's dash). His up close game isn't something you want to rely on to win a game. Use hit confirms to tks and combo from there. He has ZERO low starters but if he did he would be a little too good. His tkp has ambiguous range but there's also some gaps in it. Like if a match starts and your opponent jumps at you and you tkp it will whiff and you eat a jump in combo. His specials and his xray are both highly punishable by full combos (close range). What else? Ermac is a zoner before anything else. Don't use naked specials save for tkp at range and go for big combos with tks when you can. Sorry for rambling...its 2am here and I'm quite tired.

Come On Die Young
Skarlet fits the bill pretty nicely. Her projectile is very good (even if the cancel is getting removed) and she can rushdown quite well.

leek

Noob
Liu Kang.

very good zoning and has some pretty nice block string ability, not to mention high low mix up. Very solid. I suggest Kabal too, Kabal is probably the most balanced, finished character in the game.

Saltea Moonspell

"Mind Over Matter" I dont mind, and X dont matter
Cyrax - not hard, great juggles, teleport and much more.
Kitana - not hard. one of best zoners, good pressing and air mobile.
Kabal - heavy execution (risky), great pressing, great counter-zoner and ground mobility.

Jelan

Aquaman is dead lel
Liu has great zoning ability with high-low-air fireballs, and great rushdown. You can condition your opponent to block either high or low, than do something pretty from the other direction.

Mileena is also nice at zoning and just as nice upclose.

You can't really go wrong with neither of these two.

Name v.5.0

Iowa's Finest.
Sonya! Awesome rush down. Very fast projectile with fast recovery for decent zoning. Some of the best pokes in the game, an air throw, high damage combos. There's a bit of a learning curve though.

Salt Proprietor of TYM
Reptile is IMO one of the top three zoners in the game and can get a easy full combo from anywhere on the screen if he hits you with a forceball. He can also swap over to his rushdown almost instantly whenever he wants and pressure his opponent.
