Also, why is everyone so quick to assume that because he is unmasked, he must be Kuai Liang? If Bi-Han becomes the grand master this time around, he won't have a reason to remain masked.

Not saying it ISN'T Kuai, but we don't know that it is.

Yeah I know. I know it had something to do with being hunted down by the Lin Kuei. so he didn't want to wear their garb.

Just saying, in the alternate timeline shit doesn't always happen for the same reason. Already there are like 2 or 3 different ways Sub-Zero gets his scar haha. Isn't it also possible that SZ goes unmasked for a different reason this time? I mean, when the LK was hunting him in MK9, he didn't go unmasked like he did in MK3.

I'd absolutely love it if it was based on the unmasked MK3 costume. It's one of my favourites.

I'll be honest once I saw this image I immediately thought of you Braindead to wondering if you like this haha. I now think of you as a Sub Zero rival haha. But I really am so excited to see this. I hope he does have the bottom part of his mask on like in the comics. Love this look

I was just thinking about how Ermac says to Sub in the intros "your soul is corrupted" and he replies "not corrupted, freed" that he could mean freed from being a cyborg, and then i came on here and saw this thread. I originally thought it was Bi-Han but now I think it's Kuai Liang 25 yrs later. Noob still might have a chance, i cant wait to see the story and find out who it is!

Okay, let's just throw some shizo theories around. I'll start:

1) Who else has empty eyes? For one, it's Scorpion, who came back from Netherrealm, where he was changed into a weapon. Wilful and potentially independent, but still. I'm pretty sure there was another guy just like him, and btw that guy had empty white eyes too. And is also related to our man Subs somehow. Hmmm...

2) There's yet another dude with white glowing eyes. He happens to occupy a position of realm protector. Said dude also engages in conflict with our guy (as indicated by pre-battle lines) because the latter think he would make a better protector... I wonder if that means anything...

I think he dropped the mask after Cyrax/ Sektor/ Smoke's transformation. In the current timeline Sub was captured slightly before these events, and Smoke is the one to escape. I think his primary "hoodless" design is a nod to 1st timeline maskless Subzero.
