I did a lot but I never hated...
Months ago, Ed Boon was asked about who the boss character will be and he replied "..a surprise return character, I don't think many people will see it coming."
What a suspense builder this guy is. Anyway, I've been contemplating on it and with the release of the comic book, and the return of Kung Lao (whether its the one from centuries ago or the Kung Lao that got his neck snapped) I'm thinking chances are it could very well be a former MK9 character. Before you think Liu Kang, I actually think he may be in the game, but not as the boss.
To side track a little bit, I remember when Ed talked about bringing on new characters and it made most of us believe that MK would have a new generation of characters. Well something popped in my head recently. During the MK9 story mode, when Raiden confronted Scorpion about not killing Sub-Zero, he mentioned if Scorpion would spare Sub-Zero's life, he would request the Elder Gods to return his clan to the realm of mortals.
SO WAIT, technically in MK, the dead can be returned to the living! This changed my whole perspective. Of all the people that we questioned that died, this Kung Lao seems like the most obvious that died (for the record, Kano was just frozen, he didn't die, and we know this is a new Lin Kuei carrying on the Sub-Zero name) yet he is returned in older form. I'm guessing Kung Lao was returned by the request of Raiden. Both Kung Lao's died so one of them were brought back to life, lol.
Now... to these sorcerers...they have some wicked powers right? But, what if they have the power to revive like the elder gods (which technically they do) but I mean even those that bodies have been completely obliterated?
This leads me to who I think possibly may be the boss (or have some involvement in the whole thing)...the very deceptive and cunning Shang Tsung.
Its just a theory, but I'm getting this hunch that its somebody we least expect. Shang Tsung has always been one to have a trick up his sleeve and has shown a pattern of subtly undermining Shao Kahn. The front runners on people's mind seem to be Liu Kang, & Shinnok, but I'm going out on the limb and saying its Shang Tsung. And no I don't have a lot of theoretical examples, its just a hunch.
Other possibilities for me are Baraka (a Baraka at Royalty status) or Ermac (with the plan to purge all souls into him) but that's just another hunch.

I'm having a feeling and I'll keep saying this, Kitana will be revived and will be some sort of a rage source for Liu Kang and both of them will be the main boss somehow idk
