"The NRS community can't play two games at once."

I don't know how long MK9 would have survived with Kabal's F32 infinite, Cyrax's command grab reset, and all the other bullshit early on in the game. You can't patch a game yearly if your policy is to release a new game every two years. NRS just work differently to Capcom in that regard.
True, but in terms of a new mk game, the time length was four years, not two. Although the cost of producing games every 2 years probably doesnt help the fact they didnt contribute more to mk9

I understand there's bullshit in both of these games, but I ended up sticking with it through the entire lifespan of MK.
I didn't even last half a year with Injustice.
They are all personal preference though.

Does NRS community HAVE to play 2 games at once? Why so butthurt?
I miss the mk9 days. Shit was hype as fuck back then. Injustice has taught me a lesson. Never abandon your game for another one just because the same company made it. I'll never buy another nrs game that doesn't have mortal kombat in the title.
I will - to support the development of the next MK :)

I think we're all just more passionate about MK (or at least most of us are) and are more willing to tolerate its nonsense. MK9 was the game we all wanted and were waiting for for years. It had the nostalgia of UMK3, MK2 and all those arcade games, the mechanics of a really good tournament fighter, and it was just cool and fun as hell. It's my favorite game of all time. Despite its bugs, glitches, and lack of balance, the good outweighs the bad so we were willing to take it.

Injustice is a bit different, but I really don't think it would have survived had it not been for the October patch. I mean, people were already dropping the game after EVO due to Superman, BA, and all that nonsense. The game really needed a shakeup. Not to mention, that patch addressed some general gameplay issues pertaining to interactables and whatnot which were badly needed.

In an ideal world, MK9 would have gotten one more patch in late 2012, or even after Injustice's release. I really feel that game could be perfect if its issues are addressed but unfortunately that's not realistic so we just have to deal with it and move on.

But really in the end, I feel it comes down to passion. Yes, a lot of people, myself included, still love Injustice and play it. But this is an MK site and that's our true passion. Can't wait for MKX.

I'm not reading all that shit but whoever said that is just dumb imo. I'm playing yugioh MD's right now and then im gonna jump on IGAU in about an hour. Hold dat capcom community.

I'd also add this: First impressions are really important.

Despite the fact that it was broken as hell on release day, MK9 was just so cool. It looked good, it had everyone's favorite characters, it reminded us of the arcade MK's, etc... Most realized how the game has potential, how fluid it was, how great the movement is (though of course you had the usual "it has no footsies, no anti airs, etc..." talk that was proven to be nonsensical later on). To be clear, I'm strictly talking about the NRS community here. Capcom guys dropping the game means nothing. Our community embraced the game, for the most part, even through the inevitable moaning and crying. For a lot of us, MK9 popped our fighting game cherry, and that only happens once (I think :DOGE).

Injustice in my opinion, fell flat at first. The reaction for the most part within the community was, on average, quite lukewarm, and that includes many top players whose opinions hold weight and influence. Like MK9, the game had a lot of broken bullshit, but unlike MK9, it didn't benefit from everyone's willingness to tolerate it while waiting for the patches because they're just so passionate about it. As a result, the complaints about the game were constant, and the criticism was extremely vocal. The Deathstroke debacle, the metropolis rooftop debacle, the infamous Scorpion debacle, the F23 skill-gap debacle, etc...surely didn't help. After EVO 2013 when MK9 started its official fading out phase, most were emo. It was like having to deal with a break up with your longtime girlfriend and not quite warming up to the rebound chick. Now a few months later the rebound chick ended up being quite awesome (I can't stress how awesome the October patch was, though I'm not saying the game is perfect), but by then, for many, it was still difficult to shake off that first impression and the constant (needless) comparisons with MK9. Hence the outdated narratives of the game having no footsies, no anti-airs, etc...

Also, propaganda matters. Tournament players who were unable to accept their relative lack of success (compared to MK9) being so outspoken and blaming the game for their shortcomings couldn't have helped. These things leave an impression on people, and many will mindlessly repeat what they hear, or at least allow it to distort perception. That, coupled with much of the above explains that negative vibe that's been constantly there since the release of Injustice. It's a shame really, as I think NRS did a really great job.

With that said, things are getting overblown. Those who still play and enjoy the game still support it, and they're hardly so few. Tournaments are still exciting (and before anyone says: "Not really because Sonic Fox," think of REO's reign of terror in MK9 in the second of half of 2012, so that's not quite exclusive to the Injustice tournament scene), and people ARE still playing the game. Let's not blow things out of proportion. A lot of people act like some of the issues with Injustice are unheard of. Really? Top tier characters in fighting games are a novelty now all of a sudden? Aquaman's trident rush is any more or less dumb than Kabal's entire move set, Kenshi's armor, Sonya's ex cartwheel, etc...? Sonic Fox winning everything is some sort of unheard of event? Dominant players never existed in other fighting games? Theo and Aquaman win every WNF? Let me ask this, if REO was somehow a West Coast player (hypothetically) and WNF hosted MK9 weeklies back in the game's heyday, you don't think he would have won pretty much every week? Would the usual suspects drop the game because of REO and Kabal? At this point, the naysayers will look for anything to say "lol Injustice who cares. lol Martian. lol Aquaman. lol Sonic Fox." It's annoying as hell.

I kind of hate the fact that this community make it seem like it's a bad thing to drop a game because a new one came out. There's nothing wrong with that, everyone has a right to do what they want and obviously people want to play the newer game, let them. You can't really change the way people are because YOU prefer the older game and the "good ol' days".

yep ... the tendency it's NRS making each new game a better and suitable affordable evolution stuff than the previous one, so, MKX , in theory, brings a bit mixed elements from previous MK9 and IGAU together, however, enhancing and improving into a much more attractive gameplay experience ..... this alone make the act of preferring to be a MKX full time player in 2015 just a normal issue.

I agree with you on most of this except Kabal was a lot more entertaining to watch than BG. The only time I get excited watching Sonicfox play is if his opponent is making a comeback or something.

And in regards to your comparing AMs trident rush with Kabal's moveset, Sonya's cartwheel and Kenshi armor. Kabal took excellent execution to use him effectively. Sonya's cartwheel could be blown up on a read (although I'm not saying at all it's not good), and Kenshi...yeah Kenshi was bullshit in a lot areas. But D1 trident rush or B12 trident rush with as much meter it gains on block, the chip damage, and of course it's safe (even if wasn't he still has trait lol).

Don't take any of this anything negative because it's not. Every FG has it's bullshit.

Exactly, I think some people just need to get a grip of themselves. This to me seems like teething or adapting problems from this community; and it's happened in other communities - take Call of Duty for instance:
CoD made some alright games untill CoD 4 came out and BAM! Huge success but it died out in a couple of years and Jesus Christ, I swear all of mlg pros and try-hards, and pub stompers all whinned and complained because nobody wanted to play their X years old game. Everyone else moved on and played the next one andso did they tbh. See the similarity? You always get these people who are frankly just dicks trying to hate on everyone because they don't want to play an old game when a new one is out.
