My PS3 just gave me a scare. What to do?

Hey guys. So basically I turned on my PS3(well,technically it's my brother's,but whatever) and while it was loading up BAM! it turned off with that ERROR sound. Instantly I shit my pants because the last time that happened(way back when Dead Space 2 came out) my PS3 was declared dead because I had neglected to keep it in an open space(it was hidden under a very small cabinet). So ever sense I have obsessively kept my PS3 clean. Lukily I turned it on and it was okay. Even though I dont play it right now, I have to keep it in mint condition for Xrd and MKX(aint going next gen just yet). SO when I turned it on and THAT happened I nearly started crying. Does this usually happen to PS3? If not, can anything be done to prevent it?

Hold the power button in until you hear it beep 3 times after the initial beep of pressing it. That should fix your problem
