I also think it's 4-6 (I don't think a character with Kung Lao's tools could have a 3-7), but it's his hardest match-up IMO. Lao can definitely not be as mobile and take as many risks in this match-up, and has to be more patient, but the problem with trying to stay away and throw hats is the risk of trading with net. Realistically, a good Cyrax who knows his spacing will not let you stay full screen throwing hats for too long, and you're not going to beat a top Cyrax by laming him out with low hats, so you have to get it at some point.Realistically speaking, lao can fight cyrax as well and DJT/Maxter have said this, lao players just have to change their play style. It is 6 4, so lao is always able to compete. I ain't going to lie tho, DJT and Maxter play vs lao so well, it looks like 8 2 #YEEEAAAPP
But I agree that views on the match can be skewed because Lao can't dive kick or tele. Well, neither can most of the cast since they have neither a dive kick or a teleport, so they just play the spacing game, dash in and out, etc... There's no reason why Kung Lao shouldn't do the same, so I agree with you there. But still, we're talking about a match-up that takes away Kung Lao's main tools, and any mistake means death.
