For the past few weeks the main rivarly at GBS has been Max vs. Pimpimjim. PPJ has gone from Hawkgirl, to Shazam and is now using Lex Luthor. Week after week they put on some of our local's best matches and last night was no exception. Their meeting in winners finals was earned with Max breaking the backs of N1k0lass and myself while PPJ defeated Hruza and Saucy Jack in an incredibly close match. High off the clutch victory over Superman PPJ continued his momentum and beat Max 3-2 in an equally close contest. Max was left emo over jump 3 and declared he had no options. However he bodied Catwoman again to earn a runback and successfully defeated the bald mastermind in a 3-1 reset and a 3-1 finals to win the tournament, his 26th GBS and 5th win in a row. Apparently the axiom of brains over brawn isn't true when venom is involed. With PPJ vowing to take a break can anyone hope to stop Max's reign of terror? Probably not.
Hruza Da Bruza decided to give Dick Grayson a break and use his bill of goods Solomon Grundy this week...and somehow stumbled into doing better with Grundy than he did with Nightwing last week. Rational Jim, returning from the rocky mountains, was rocked by the dead man. Also returning was Fill Pops but the main main was no match for the rampaging swamp monster. Calm yourself Grundy!
Top 3 Smoke player Young Tommy Wafflez made a rare appearance, in town to help his sister move Friday. Making good on his word that he'd body any Aquaman free he defeated Jeremiah but refused to adjust past meta 1 against Saucy Jack backdashing b+1,3 and was sent to losers. There he faced me and although he won the first game convincingly he was eventually beaten by the cat and sent back to Dekalb in a body bag.
