This is not the kind of attitude to have, do you seriously think that people voted no simply because of ignorance and fear? That all no voters were OAP? Because my fb feed seems to say differently. I understand the nationalistic reasons for leaving, I will always identify as Scottish first and British second, but what other possible reason would be big enough to consider breaking apart a strong union between great countries? Did things really get that bad in 5 years (since I last lived there)?
No his point is that out of all the age groups, the huge majority of those 65+ years old voted No. The fact that Westminster is bull, the fact we don't have control over our own resources, the fact we basically pay for England's stuff (Scottish money is currently being spent on an underground rail in London), the fact we have to be involved in England & the US' wars and the fact that there's lots of poverty and unemployment that needs to be changed and could have been had the majority decided to let us take our own matters into our own hands. One of the reasons the No voters voted No was because Scotland was apparently going to get more powers in Parliament but look at that, not even 24 hours later and both David Cameron and Ed Miliband have dismissed that. Any decision made now that affects Scotland is down to the No voters. Hell there's been riots in George Square tonight, a 15 year old girl got STABBED by a No voter, there's videos of a Yes supporter being beaten by a No supporter and a girl on the ground crying having her Saltire being pulled out her hands by No supporters carrying Union Jacks, the Scottish Sun (the only media outlet to openly support independence) headquarters somewhere being burned down and No voters singing Rule Britannia and burning Saltires while doing a fucking Nazi salute. They
won. There was no need for this to happen and if Scotland wasn't already a laughing stock it is now.
We pay for each others stuff. Its a kingdom. We share.
Trust me I am surprised it was that close considering how bad the yes party's "plans" were.
I'm sorry what Scottish stuff have the English paid for? Our money and England's money is being controlled
in England so I don't see why they'd be paying for Scottish stuff... We're currently paying for an underground railroad in London!
Also what of the Yes campaigns plans were bad? The No campaign were the one contradicting themselves and already MPs are going back on their word about getting more powers for Scotland.
Old people are often out of touch with the younger generations, so you might think you're voting correctly at 65 and everyone else might think you're a crazy conservative fossil.
Eh? This would have nothing to do with the younger generation at that time, my vote would still be Yes based on what we're dealing with now. The old people
now didn't have a previous referendum to think about, but in the future we will and we'll decide the result of that based on what happens now and from now on. Unless changes come, and if what's been revealed so far is anything to go by they won't, then my vote will be an obvious Yes.
