A lot of the top reps have single-handedly revolutionized their character and made the entire community think differently of them with their successes. I was thinking the other day about how Zod would be viewed as a character if Pig had never picked him up, and it spawned the idea for this thread.
Just for fun. Feel free to list your own thoughts on various characters.
I'll just list a few characters off the top of my head, not going to list every single one.
Batman - Arma has had enough showings and success with the character that the community would still know how strong Batman is, even without Forever King. While there would be chants of how Batman hasn't been able to win a major, he would likely stay where he is on the tier chart.
GL - There have been a plethora of successful Green Lantern players, so losing one (the top rep is debatable) would have minimal effect on his placing.
Harley - She definently drops without Saltface. Harley would have no tournament success whasoever (from memory) had he not been putting in work with her. She may not be considered bottom tier, but there would be a lot more downplaying.
Shazam - Stays the same. I think most people recognize that Shazam isn't good, Digit is just great.
Catwoman - this character is likely thought of as a complete shitter without 16 bit's representation. He has done everything for Selina in the context of making us believe that she's not one of the worst characters in the game.
MMH - Aquaman will be considered the best character in Injustice if Jupiter was not out there destroying people. Reo's is great, but he never made Grand Finals and has largely no-showed for the last several months. Jupiter's domination at multiple tournaments are the driving force of cries for MMH nerfs. Without him, the community would know that he's great, but would never know how exactly how great.
Zod - Clearly, Pig has revolutionized this character. He created most of its tech, owns all of its tournament successes, and is the sole reason Zod is considered top tier. I imagine the Zod community to become extravagant downplayers without everything Pig has shown them. The main Zod rep would become M2Dave, who himself has likely picked up a lot of Pig's tech and tactics, without which we may not see any Zod success in tournament.
