New Challengers?

New Challengers is going to be the new series of events that we will now be holding at Gaming Etc as we build them to be better and more fun for you guys the community. Now lets get down to the nitty gritty

When: September 18th\
where: Gaming Etc 555 Lordship Blvd Stratford CT 06615
Registration: 11 - 2:30pm
Starts: 3pm
Venue Fee: $5
Games: MK9, AE, and MVC3
System: xbox 360
monitor: Asusvh236h
Tournament fee: $10 per game
Call the store if your going to be late (203) 296-9961
We will have setups now separately in the back, so you can play casuals while waiting for your turn in the tournament. Also feel free to bring in your own setup to play the game you want(space permitting)

Rules for MK9: Freddy / DLC Costumes are banned

I'm also getting more great stuff to raffle you guys, Games T Shirts etc so I expect to see you all there and things will keep getting BIGGER AND BETTER

Is MK9 on 360 as well? I think MK tourneys are generally played on PS3, dunno how it was during your last tourney.

Last 2 tournaments was on xbox 360 and ran without problems. Also the other tournaments SSF4:AE, MVC3 (we also run madden/cod/etc on other days) Run on xbox 360, if the turnout for MK9 increases in the future I can see if the procurement of ps3s is possible.

Also I should note we have brand new sticks that we loan to players, and a very awesome ps3 to xbox 360 converters to people who play on the ps3 pad

Looked up the directions, this is only about 2 hours from me, so it's very doable... gotta see if I'll be busy moving on that day but it's quite possible that we can get a group of the VSM players to this tournament.

I'm looking to make this my first offline experience/tournament. As of right now I am fully committed to going, just hoping schedule permits. That being said I am from Suffolk county, Long Island and will be taking the ferry from port jeff to Bridgeport for this. I'm taking my car so if there are some players in the area that want to carpool with me then maybe we can all split the ferry trip so I don't spend $60 for just me.

Since your coming on the ferry I am going to make sure to run MK first to make sure you guys can leave on time on the ferry back. Ill look up the times . Seoul that sucks but Im running MK first and if you want either me or McJustin would be willing to take you back to the train station so it wouldnt be to bad

We actually have more than enough matching asus monitors but if you can bring your xbox with game that would help make the tournament run quicker

I'm in there for Mortal Kombat! The last tournament was really fun.

I think it should be laid out in advance; are Freddy and the unluckable/DLC costumes going to be banned? That has been the standard at most tournaments (and with good reason).

It's actually a PS2 to 360 converter that you had there last time. The Xtokki 360 converter, specifically. It's great! I will bring one for the tournament as well.

PS3 is generally preferred for Mortal Kombat, but we can make 360 work. If you decide to switch to PS3, I could bring mine (with all of the DLC characters).

Blue I understand your concerns but that venue has invested alot into me, unfortunately fighters are not the only tournaments I run thats why I needed all the systems to be the same. Having 6 xbox 360s and 2 ps3s and I cant run any 4 vs 4 fps tournaments. We are going to have to have 10 setups this time so i expect everything to run good

That's no problem, man. I'm more concerned about the rules for the MK tournament. Did you read that part?

Yeah man I'm excited for this one. The last tournament was excellent. Nice to know that BlueNine is going to make it out to this as well.

Some have been banning Skarlet as well. I think she should be banned as well (not that anyone is going to use her) for her back throw being more powerful than any other throw in the game. That could be a game changer especially at the end of matches.

Yeah but Freddy is bugged. He should be banned, if I'm playing sub zero (which I will be) and I throw an ice ball and he's clearly not blocking and it goes through him (which is what's wrong with him) and I lose the match because of it. I'd probably leave regardless of where I was in the bracket. There's a reason why this character is banned. I hope the rules are followed when I make my way down there on Sunday.

I think Freddy should definitely be banned, even if it wasn't a problem last time. People have been figuring out more with him (including 50%+ single meter combos), and he has at least one significant glitch (where projectiles go through him). Moreover, NetherRealm have already specified that they'll be doing a major nerf (thus making it clear how much the character needs it).

Sorry to anyone who wants to play this character, but the patch will be out soon, and in the meantime, he is really just unreasonable. Also, I don't want to see people from out of state drive to this and end up dealing with this character unnecessarily.

I hope you understand; I wouldn't bother with this if it weren't so significant.

CD Jr and REO will both be attending. I am picking them up Sunday morning.

Yes. I've been in contact with CD Jr after summer jam. He was trying to get more people from VSM to come along also. But it looks like its just him and REO.
