Is it ok if I go to my first tournament and completely suck?
I think i'm decent but I might end up being crappy.
Or would I like be laughed at by everyone forever?

Just make sure you don't play on stream if you are not confident

Enjoy yourself and learn as much as you can there. Though it's a tournament it's still for fun. So remember. Have a good time!

Usually, at least in my experience (and I suck as well lol), the better players don't laugh at the newer guys... they tend to rape you in tournament and then give you advice and try to help you after.

Or maybe that's just in Atlanta.

EDIT: Stream Monsters are always gonna troll and laugh and be generally retarded, so who gives a fuck what they think?

Go in confident, but not cocky. Show respect, but never expect it. Be sweet, but not salty. Win with humility and lose with grace. You'll turn out just fine.

Ya its fine. Its your first tournament. If you do bad then its whatever. If you do well then good shit hehe. Just go have fun and meet new people. Also Im actually for going on stream your first time if possible. Helps you get used to being on stream. People commentate your match so you can go back and see their suggestions. My first tournament i had to play KDZ. This was right after EVO. I asked to be on stream so i could look back and see what i did wrong. The answer to what i did wrong was everything :p.

Sounds profound.
I give advice as if epic was a language

EDIT: First tournament ever for me was a super street fighter 4 tournament, a regional gamestop tournament at a nascar sports bar, like 30 people, made grand finals.

First NRS tournament was Flawless Victory, went 1-2, every major almost went 0-2 every time.

Believe it or not, the vast majority of people at tournaments are super friendly and will help you out. I've been going to tournaments for well over a decade and never once have I ever been mocked for getting my ass handed to me. It doesn't matter if you suck. Plenty of people who attend tournaments aren't great (or even good) players. You go to have fun, play some games, see where you stand, and more importantly, to interact with other people who share your hobby.

I haven't been seriously competitive in any fighting game for about 7 years now, but the friends that I made over the years through fighting games have become some of the best friends I have. The friendships have long outlasted the games, or my competitive career.
