another issue is that fighting games die quick, real quick.

Call of Duty games die yearly and yet make eSports events every time. Doubt this is an actual problem.

Edit: Also, while fighters may be hard to learn they're not hard to grasp. You can pick up the basics of the game within a few matches of watching. MOBA's are much harder to grasp for a casual viewer.

cod games are basically the game with improved mechanics every year.
speaking from personal experience, I don't get hyped for games that I don't understand.
seeing tekken at the highest level doesn't do anything for me because I have no idea what's is going on.

IMO to be mainstream, FGs needs better teaching tools, easier for newbies to access, and the developers should support their games's events. I want to see EVO, CEO, SBO,... on TV. and I heard that Korean esport players are really rich :confused:.

Fighting games will always have the potential to become esports. The issue lies in whether or not the community as a whole wants it to be. I see nothing strange about a group breaking away from the FGC in order to pursue this in the future.
